I called a life person who finally showed me that the ink was not completely used up, although, it kept warning me it was so low. I guess from what he said it turns an orange color when completely out of ink and then the cartridge holder moves over so that the cartridge can be removed. I hope he's right. I can still print. The directions would be more helpful if this was explained.

I take all information that I read literally and completely. I'm not computer savvy!

I just replaced all my inks and it is still telling me to replace my cartridges i also turned it on then off

  1. Open the scanner.
  2. Press the cp_button_14.gif Stop button to move the cartridges to the replacement position.

Caution: Do not move the print head by hand; this may damage your all-in-one. Always press and release the cp_button_14.gif Stop button to move it
  3. Open the cartridge cover.
  4. Press down all the ink cartridges until they click into place to make sure they are properly seated.
  5. Close the cartridge cover and push it down until it clicks into place.
  6. Close the scanner.
  7. Press the cp_button_14.gif Stop button to begin charging the ink. This takes about 2 minutes.
When the On light stops flashing and remains on, ink charging is finished.

    Caution:
Never turn off the Epson Stylus CX while ink is charging or you'll waste ink.
If the ink light flashes, press the cp_button_14.gif Stop button and press down all the cartridges securely.
If you remove an ink cartridge for later use, protect the ink supply area from dirt and dust and store it in the same environment as the Epson Stylus CX with the label facing upward. Note that there is a valve in the ink supply port, making covers or plugs unnecessary, but care is needed to prevent the ink from staining items that the cartridge touches. Do not touch the ink cartridge ink supply port or surrounding area, and do not store the cartridge upside down.

If you remove a low or expended ink cartridge, you cannot reinstall and use the cartridge.

buy an ink cartridge made specifically for your printer. Turn on your printer and raise the lid or press the cartridge changing button. 3 Wait for the cartridge carrier to slide out. with an Epson printer, lift the cartridge holder lid, and the cartridge will pop up for removal. Carefully remove the tape from the ink opening on the bottom of new cartridge. Insert the new cartridge into the cartridge carrier. On some models, arrows will indicate the cartridge is correctly positioned. with an Epson printer close the cartridge holder lid and press the cleaning button to charge the cartridge. How do i change the ink cartridge on my epson cx6400?

I am assuming that you already have a replacement ink cartridge.
    • Make sure the printer is on.
    • If the LCD screen says that your ink cartridge is empty than
you can simply press the Color button (the button looks sorta like a diamond with a line in the middle of it).
    • If you wanna change the ink cartridge but the printer does not say that it is empty then
press the setup button, then press the top left button until Replace ink is displayed. Finally, press the Color button.

    • Lift up the scanner section
    • Wait for ink cartridge holder to move to replacement position then open its cover.
    • Identify which cartridge you want to replace. Press in the tab to release the cartridge, then lift straight out.
    • Before unwrapping the new cartridge, shake it gently four times. Then remove from wrapper.
    • Lower new cartridge into holder, press down firmly until clicks.
    • Close cartridge cover
    • Carefully lower the scanner section and press it down until it clicks
These instructions were found in http://files.support.epson.com/pdf/cx64__/cx64__pg.pdf on pg 12.

    Changing Cartridges

I inspected the users manual, there it writes:

The steps below to replace an ink cartridge: Caution: Leave the empty cartridge installed until you have obtained a replacement, or the ink remaining in the print head nozzles may dry out. To ensure good results, use genuine Epson ink cartridges and do not refill them. Other products may cause damage to your CX6600 not covered by Epson’s warranty. 1. If an ink cartridge is empty: Look at the LCD screen to see which cartridge is empty, then press the x Color button. If an ink cartridge is low: Press the Setup button to enter Setup Mode, then press the green button next to the LCD screen until Replace Ink is displayed. Then press the x Color button. 2. Changing ink cartridge/s

The scanner cover is on one set of hinges. Below the scanner bed, you can lift the front edge and the scanner bed will lift up on another set of hinges. Do not attempt to manually position the ink cartridge holder to replace individual cartridges, but follow the instructions from the print dialogue box, under Epson Printer Utility and Epson StatusMonitor.
