Question about Canon PowerShot G2 Digital Camera

3 Answers

No power I turned the camera on and the lens came out then the screen went blank. I thought the battery may be low even though it was recently charged, so I put it on the charger. The orange charge light did not come on. I removed the battery and checked it with a voltmeter and it was showing 8.4 volts. Everything points to a blown fuse or something like that. Is there a fuse in the camera? Hope you can help Neil Low

Re: No power

I just repaired my Canon G2 with no power symptoms.  The lens did NOT come out.  I replaced the internal PCB that you plug the AC adapter into.  The part number off the board is:

Re: No power

First it is not the volt but the current the barrery is having. check it with milliampere meter, because even a recently dead battery may show you proper voltages. second yes there are safety fuses in the power section near the battery terminals and power socket. try locating and check for continuty.

Get message Lens error, restart camera

Not much you can do. Switching off the camera and then on, is like a cod boot from a computer.
You could try to remove the battery for a few seconds, and then reinsert it. Then you should investigate why the lens stays out. Is it because of a mechanical problem, or came some dirt between the barrel, while the camera got wet? Try to remove any obstruction. feel if the lens can move by gently moving the barrel a little. If it goes. Don't apply force, because you could damage the mechanical or electrical parts in the lens barrel.
I hope it works. Don't forget: the battery should be charged fully.

Camera said battery exhausted when i went to take pic so I plugged it in to charge. light blinking but even though it looks like it is charging I cant turn it on to close lens

Normaly the lens would go in, as soon as the battery runs low.
Perhaps you should wait till you unpluged the camera.
Try to charge the battery in the external charger. Then after replacing the battery everything should work fine.

Even with new batteries can not power unit up and the lens is open

I have the same problem took a picture then camera went off with lens still open, thought it was the battery so bought a new battery but still will not work, its as though the camera is dead. Is it possible to get it repaired or should I just buy another camera. Does anyone know what type of camera to buy that does the same things as the Kodak Easyshare C643 Digital camera.

Kodak v550 digital camera

Hey akpssttt, I had the same problem with my kodak and even though I was able to turn on the camera, the lens would not come back in. So after awhile I just gave up took it to the repair shop and they still weren't able to fix it. So I left the camera for about a year now, gathering dust, but recently I decided to give another shot, and amazingly when I plug the camera into the charger, the lens went back in! And now the camera works perfectly.

So I would suggest you leaving your camera out for awhile and do not charge it until the batteries is completely drained. And then plug it back into the charger.

Hope this help.

Camera doesn't do anything!

But it is time to bury it and get a new one. I feel the repair cost will be very high. Check out Nikon Support first though

Camera switches on then off

Check the Kodak website Tech support, It does seem that there is a switch fault or internal short here.

Battery problem

It probably lacked the power to retract the lens. I'd start with recharging the battery and see if that corrects the problem.
