same thing - no change . also , the person who gave me the "remove the battery" suggestion; that didn't work either

  • bob_sabo Nov 06, 2008

the laptop screen does the same thing in safe mode as it does when running regular mode. cuts out after 5 seconds. The only place it doesn't is on the external monitor.

I have the acer aspire 5536-5112 black screen

I solve this using Fn + F6, using a 5536 model. Just press Fn + F6, keep holding it and hit the power button, wait for about 5 or 7 seconds, release the Fn and F6 keys. thank you so much guys!

If your laptop appears to boot up and the hard disk LEDflashes, then the problem is probably a back light fault. This can be a faultyinverter or a faulty CCFL lamp. Please click on this link and follow myinstructions to identify the fault and possible fix :- http://www.fixya.com/support/r3598095-faulty_laptop_lcd_screen

Model acer travelmate 4000 nodisplay on lcd and external monitor

You say the trouble is with the keyboard. Can you attach an external keyboard via USB and see if you can push Fn key with F5 (I think it is the F5 key - try Fn with others - keep Fn pressed and repeatedly press the F5 or F6 etc.) several times to see if the screen toggles between LCD and external monitor. For this to work you will have to restart the computer after attaching the external keyboard. Press the start button until the computer goes off, and press again to restart.

Itf you ascertain that the trouble is with the 99.N7082.01D, make sure to try to fit it in correctly, or perhaps the Fn key has some dust or liquid in it so it does not function. Then you have to try to clean it from the inside after you disassemble.

Screen goes black, turn it on with fn+f6 but goes black again after 2 secs

right click on the screen, go to properties, screen saver, power settings, and set turn off monitor to desired setting. If that is not the problem then there might be a loose connector inside the pc. or another thing could be that the screen itself is failing but hopefully its not.

Black screen after windows xp screen nothing else

Sometimes the function keys get depressed by accident and it takes away your display. Press the FN+F5 and FN+F6 three times each and see if your display comes back on.

My FN+F6 doesnt keep my screen on the laptop open

Change the settings from the display settings panel. (Right click on the desktop and go to display settings)
You should see 2 monitors graphically represented there.
You can make the monitor that is greyed out active by right clicking on the monitor, and selecting active.

Look at the back of your acer you will be having a blue monitor port or a white, the same should be there at the back of your monitor as well, now one get the cable for the port that your monitor and acer has common.A blue or a white once you connect the monitor and the Acer press this key combination
Fn+F6 .Fn key is the one betwen on the ctrl key and the window key on the keyboard on the left bottom of the keyboard.

My FN+F6 doesnt keep my screen on the laptop open

Hi,
I think you're trying to output the screen to external monitor right ? So when you press Fn+F6 this will output to external monitor only but if you do it again it will output to both (External and you LCD) and if you repeat the step again you're back to normal.
goodluck,takecare.
