HP Digital Copier 610 Carriage Error

Okay...I had a paper jam. After fixing that I have been receiving a Carriage Error: 'Open door, latch carriage, close door, press enter'. I tried cleaning the electrical contacts of the print carriage....and still not working. Plus, when I opened the unit to access the carriage to clean it, it did not move to the center on its own - I had to manually move it. Someone please help!!

Depending on where the paper jam happened and how you cleared it, you could have either "knocked the copier for a loop" or actually damaged the print carriage. The first thing I would do in your shoes is to turn off the copier and unplug the power cord from the back of the product.

Wait about 30 seconds or so to make sure any errors being held in the copier's memory by any residual electrical charge clears.

Plug the power cord back in to the back of your product and turn it on. My guess is that you'll be prompted to go through a cartridge alignment procedure. That may well clear up the problems you see.

Just in case, I'm posting a link to HP.com to instructions on how to clearn the electrical contacts on the print cartridges and print carriage. There are also instructions on this page regarding latching cartridges. These seem to be fairly easy processes, but if not done correctly, can result in continuing errors:

Check the following steps for fixing Hp Carriage Jam Error :

Open the print carriage access door. Check for any packing material that may be blocking the internal components. Check for an orange shipping lock that may still be in place on the left side. Pull the shipping lock out, if present, and discard.

Remove and reinstall the cartridges to make sure they are properly installed. Lift the front center of the print carriage access door to open it. Lift the door up until it locks into an open position. Press down on a print cartridge and allow it to spring back up. Lift the cartridge out of the printer. Do the same for the other cartridge. Slide the black cartridge into the slot on the left and the color cartridge into the slot on the right. Press down on each one to lock it into place. Lower the print carriage access door.

Check the print cartridges to make sure the protective tape has been removed from the ink nozzles. Remove the cartridges from the printer. Remove any tape or labels. Replace the cartridges into the printer.

Push in on the tab on the left side of the clean-out door on the back of the printer to open the door. Lift the door out of the printer. Check for any paper jams. Jammed paper can block the printer cartridge carriage from moving. Pull any jammed paper out.

"carriage jam. Open door. Clear carriage jam, then press okay" error keeps repeating... tried everything still no change...

If you are getting a 'carriage jam' error as soon as you turn on your printer with no tasks in progress, then check for any piece of paper stuck in the carriage. Remove the paper carefully. If the paper tears, part of it might remain inside the paper path and damage the product.

Follow the steps for fix HP Printer Carriage Jam

  • Turn off the printer and open it to see where the paper is stuck.
  • Manually move the carriage toward the opposite side.
  • Check the paper path and remove any piece of paper or any other object that is stuck in the path.
  • Reconnect the power cord and turn on the printer.

Error message= open door clear carriage jam and

I think the message is instructions, as in
(1) open door (2) clear carriage jam (3) press enter
So there is something internal to the printer that makes it think it has a carriage jam, piece of paper under a sensor, dirty or stuck sensor.
If you can't find it using a bright light, try canned air.

HP CM8060 Error code C1.132A

2 possible causes for this are Carriage stall and paper on drum at SN57 Carriage 2 Pen Protection sensor. Some MFP's can experience intermittent motor stalls due to maladjusted upper right front door latch when minor movements cause the door actuator to open the door switch . this can then show up as a carriage stalled. also check for carriage 2 binding and that the aerosol hose and snorkel are seated properly.Check the plastic sensor actuator for damage and contamination. last chance could be Pen Pocket 4 PCA (A19).
