Question about Nikon Cameras
The auto motor and most of the electronics for focusing are located inside the lens on this model and the camera communicates with the body via interface contacts. Try cleaning these first. If you do not get auto focus function back the lens will need to be looked at as I think the aotofocus motor or something on the board needs attention. I would also get a quote for a replacement lens since repairs may cost same as or more than buying a new lens.
