Question about Whirlpool RBD305PD Electric Double Oven

Dead Whirlpool Double Oven

While my Whirlpool Double Oven was in self cleaning mode, it went off. Now the control panel is dead and the door is locked. Only the top oven is self cleaning. Does anyone have an idea what it could be? I think the control panel went out and might need to be replaced. Has anyone had this problem before?

Any info would be great.

TIA

I have the exact same problem, I did the self cleaning, it did a real weak bell thingie and now the door doesn't open and the control panel is blank. Tried the breaker route and that had no effect.

Same problem here. I used the self cleaning for the top oven, and when I came back home the oven is off and I noticed that the contol panel had come loose in the bottom right corner. I pushed it back in place and it is secure now. But, nothing will work, and the circuit is fine.

This is my third expensive issue with my Whirlpool double oven. This same thing happened last year, in October and the part was on back order so I was without an oven from the end of October until the first week in January. Whirlpool would not do anything to help me with this problem until I got a neighbor that works at a local television station involved. They then called me at home asking me to call them back immediately and seemed surprised that I had a problem with my oven. They did pay for the parts and repairs but just this past week I cleaned my oven again and sure enough, the same error code and now the upper oven isn't working. The lower oven does work fine so far but I'm not waiting until the holiday for that to go out too. This oven is only 4 years old and this is the 3rd major repair I have had on it. I am getting a new oven to replace it this weekend and an researching to make sure I do not buy a Whirlpool oven sold under any other brand name. I will never purchase another Whirlpool product again. They knew they had a problem with this oven and that is why the parts were on back order. But still they did nothing to help with this problem. Two other women in my neighborhood had the same problem with their ovens and all our homes were built around the same time. One of them did purchase another oven, the other one got reimbursed from Whirlpool and so far her oven is working fine.

We used the self-cleaning for the first time and now the oven is dead. No clock or anything. The door was locked but my husband was able to get it opened. Any suggestions on what we should try first?

This happened to us the first time we used the self-cleaning feature. The repairman said we had to replace the whole electronic panel -- but when he put in the new panel it didn't work either. It turned out he just needed to replace the oven shutdown thermal fuse I believe. We finally got up enough courage to try the self-cleaning again and the exact thing happened. The door is locked and the electronic panel is dead again. So when we get it fixed we will never use the self-clean again.

I have a whirlpool double oven too and replaced the control board last year the problem started with a F06 code and would reset when I power cycled for a while until it completely quit. Changing the control board fixed that problem. I just used my self cleaning cycle recently and the oven went completely blank on the control panel. Power cycle didn't do any thing. I checked 2 of the thermal cutoff fuses that are shown on most of the parts listing but the problem was with one that is not shown. The link below will get you to the part I replaced it's the power feed to the control board. Turns out that the worst thing you can do to your oven is use the self clean feature. Oven Thermal Fuse

Replaced control panel and keypad 1 1/2 years ago seen the error codes now I was self cleaning oven everything went off no error codes or anything house breaker ok PLEASE help.

Self clean is hard on controls. I do not recommend self clean. Kills expensive parts. If the temp goes above 300 in the control panel, a control panel fuse will melt, killing the power to the control.

We had a power outage today during the self cleaning process of our double oven.. The Electronic Oven Control panel is dead. No lights of any kind. The circuit breaker is ok. Upper door is locked.

Turn the breaker off for 5 minutes. this will reset the system. If you still have no power then it spiked your control board and it's the board that is fried.

Whirlpool Double over

big dib, the TC0, ( thermal cut out) probably has opened. This is non resetable. To get at it you have to pull the oven out to a point where you can get at the back. Then you have to remove the oven back panel and there is the TCO. Part number 4450249. You can verify this by ohming out the TC0, if it shows open (no continuity) it's bad. I have done a number of these and it takes two people to repair it safely. Kill the breaker when going in there. Catriver..post back.

Oven stopped working, door stuck in lock position

Tuck, sounds like your Thermal cut out opened on the back of the oven. You will have to get at this in the back of the oven. Part number 4451442. Look it up on the net so you know what your going after. This is a common deal on built ins. Going to need some help in pulling the oven out so far, removing the back panel and changing the TCO...Catriver Post back.
