The scanner will not work on the L7590

After installing HP's updated driver on my new HP Officejet L7590 the scanner is not working, I receive the message "No Scan Options". While installing the update I was alerted with a pop up window saying "Didn't get Device ID" while windows was attemting to configure the scanner?

I have the printer on a local network. Printing works fine from three networked XP SP 2 PCs. Howerver, when I startup HP Essentials for scanning, the scanning software can't find the printer/scanner. I go to Windows Scanner, to add a Scanner, but don't have the driver.

it works on my laptop but sporadically usually 1/2 of the page comes through. It has printed only once from my desk pc and never again. What is up with this printer?

I have a new HP L7590 Networked All in One printer.  I intermittently get error messages when I try to "scan picture" from the HP device manager. HP Scan Pro opens but I get one of two messages 50% + of the time.  Message 1 indicates that the scanner is in use by another program-it is not.  The other message is that there was a scan error and that it can not initialize. I am on a Mac with OSX 10.4.11 running.

I have a similar problem: i have hp all-in-one 5783. It works great with a Vista ulitmate addition but when i connected it directly to my XP, installed the SW - the SCAN option is missing. Uninstall the whole sw, installed only the basic drivers and receievd the msg "did'nt get device ID".

The printer can print and copy but cannot SCAN.

I have a similar issue and I think it might be a hardware conflict. I run a PCI soundcard on my system and each time I have uninstalled and reinstalled the HP software it has caused my soundcard to stop working. This time I decided to get sneaky and leave some music playing in Media Player so that the soundcard would be in use as I installed the HP software. Sure enough, right at the end the install came up with that "didn't get device ID" message, which I didn't get before. So now the soundcard still works but the scanner still doesn't. Interesting. Not sure what to try next, but if I come up with anything that works I'll post it here. Cheers

Found on HP page:

Open the following ports on the firewall utility by following the instructions provided by the manufacturer: UDP ports: 161, 427 and 137
TCP ports: 9220, 9500 and 9290

I allow these ports in my firewall (router firewall) and it works now.

Scanner says in use when nothing is printing

These instructions will fix the majority of scanner2_bing.gif problems and networking problems using ethernet:

The key is to assign a static ip address for the printer. The install problems of trying to get the HP printer to be found will go away. You can then use the scanner. Also...it is crucial that when connecting other laptop's and PC's on the same network that you use the hp printer'rs host name to find the printer on the network. I find that the IP address can and usually fails to find the hp on the network. Mostly likely you cannot search the network for a hp printer until you go the route of find the hp network printer with the host name of the printer. You will also need your install disk when installing on other networl laptop's and PC's since windows xp and Vista machines don't have the drivers in the list. You will need to point the add printer gui driver to the disk and look for autorun.inf
file. After selecting that file...you can then see your drivers

Unable to input a destination for the Button Settings Tab

Even if the printer installs OK, the scanner is not allways recognized. Try to look for new hardware>scanners in Control Panel. It migth want the HP CD or the driver from www.HP,com. Or find a picture editing program and File>Import>HP officejet Pro L 7590 AIO- twain! That works!

Computers not sensing scanner via LAN

Scanning over network usually requires software to connect. First go to the drivers page as below. Windows Vista | Windows XP, download the latest drivers (the Full Feature one) as well as the firmware update for the OfficeJet. Plus the "Update" files that's dated newer than the Drivers.
Upgrade the firmware (this will reset all custom settings in the OfficeJet like IP address) with a USB connection.
Run the full feature installer and if there is an option for Networked OfficeJet, then tick it. Also you may need to change/disable firewall for the installer to pick up the networked OfficeJet.
Scanning over the network usually connects with a customized TCP port. And most likely the Windows "Scanners and Cameras" will not pick up network scanners unless it's been defined manually (installer can do this part).

Print to fax HP office jetpro L7590 does not work

Sounds like you need the fax driver for the jetpro L7590 . I went to http://www.hp.com, Selected "Downloads", "Drivers" and enterd "jetpro L7590" into the search. The next screen was a selection of OSs for Windows and one for Mac OS X and Linux. I hope the Mac one is what you need. If it is, download and install it.

Software Installation Problem

Hi,
I understand your concern that you are unable to remove previous HP drivers installed on your computer. To resolve this download the HP software removal utility and run the utility.

Click here to download HP software removal utility.

NOTE: Select your OS and select HP software utility At bottom and click on download only. After dowloading run the utility for four times to remove the HP printer software completely from your computer.

After running the utility four times restart the computer and check whether HP Imaging folder is completely deleted or not which as located in C:/progra files/HP Imaging folder. If the folder is not there then the software is removed completely from your computer and continue to download the Full Feature software from the same link and install it.

Now try to scan from HP solution center. This should resolve the issue.
