You need to remove the front panel of the TV. If you look at the picture above, this panel is the light gray piece on the bottom of the tv. It is attached with plactic connectors. Just poo it off and then you will see a metal panel with some screws. remove the panel and then you will see the light buld casing. Pull it out and replace it with the new light bulb casing. If you did not purchase a new light bulb casing and bought just the bulb, you will need to take the casing apart and replace the bulb. Make sure to mark the wires so you will know where they should be connect to the new bulb.

Replaced the lamp on a hitachi 50V720, single lamp bulb is flashing red...how do you reset the new bulb?

Hi,no reset, Just make sure the Box (Lamp Enclosure) is pushed in firmly on both sides, left and right. Left side to hit the power connection and Right side to hit the little relay switch, Must be flush against that back side.
it happened to me and I was kicking myself in the ***, a entire weekend went by with a brand new lamp sitting in the enclosure but not completely set in correctly with a flashing red light.

Also get the outside lamp cover in just right where it touches the sensor and sits flush. That's what helped for me.

Good luck.

I just replaced the bulb on my Hitachi 50V720 TV. I'm getting a message that the set is running to hot and the TV will turn off. The fan is running so it seems like it's cooling. The book states that there...

There is more than one fan running in the set. If one of them is not turning at the right RPM the heat sensors may cause that message to be seen. This set is not very serviceable for the non professional. If you take the back off, unplug the set. You should vacuum the air vents inside the back and outside. remove any dust that is loose, do not bump up against any parts or assemblies.
Reinstall the back and apply power. See if it works without the message coming up.
I hope this helps,

I have a Hitachi 50v720 just replaced the the bulb for a sec time have a huge blue spot well its taking over the screen then tonight I have a big yellow spot in the middel that looks like the state of...

You have a bad optical engine or sometimes called a light engine. One or more of the LCD panels is failing due to heat build up (a faulty design on these sets). Anyway the part runs around 500-600 hundred dollars not including labor. You will spend more money to fix than what this set is worth sorry to say.

My hitachi 50v720 bulb blew and the replacement doesn't fit

I believe the lamp you need is the UX21516. not the 21517
I have a 50VF820 and this is the lamp for it.
By the way my unit just hit the 3 years and the lamp just blew as well.

BLUE SPOT OR HAZE

We had this problem with our Hitachi and it slowly spread. Turns out it was a bad lamp/bulb and needed to be replaced. But the repair man told us the spots are usually red, so a lot of repair men might misdiagnose the problem.
