Hi, I bought a Norton AntiVirus package on July 31, 2008. I was infected with a Virus called VirusResponse Alert on Sunday, November 2, 2009. I looked on line for a support number from Norton and a 24 hour support number was listed 1-866-712-1466. I called the number and was asked to shut down my computer to talk to a technician. He came on the phone line and said I had a virus. I told him that I had Norton antivirus and he said it had expired. He said that he would help me would get rid of the virus and give me virus pertection, but it would cost me $330.00 for 3 years. I was under the impression that this was still Norton I was talking too. I had little choice but to go ahead. He downloaded Mcafee on my PC. I have several questions, are you associated with these people. Why did my Norton antivirus expire and allow the virus to infect me. How long had my Norton antivirus been expired? It should not have expired until July 31, 2009. What is going on? Thanks, Lee

I suggest that the only people who can answer your questions are the people at Norton. Obviously, I wouldn't ring that phone number again, because you will only get the same people you have already spoken to. I suggest that you WRITE to the Manager at Norton. (You'll find their address on their paperwork) and tell them everything that happened, and ask them the questions you want answered. And then you'll be in a position to know whether they deserve your business or not, and whether or not you have what you paid for, and if not, what they are going to do about it. Ask if they will give a refund if you have not got what you paid for. And I think that if you got a Virus while you were supposedly protected by their product, then you definitely Didn't get what you expected to.

First make certain you have a virus program running and do a full scan. There are free ones around, most use AVG. You can get pop-up blockers, or look at internet options and select block pop ups.

Hitman pro kickstart aborts due to no internet connection


After the kickstart screen comes up,
click on the settings tab, then on the advanced tab, go down to the early
warning scoring section, check on the "I am an expert......." and then check the
"set the defalt mode to early warning scoring" then click on the ok at the

I have doctor antivirus pop ups


Unfortunately, the only way I've found to be completely rid a machine of this is to wipe the hard drive and reload the operating system. This is an advertisement virus and this particular bug leaves several sleepers that lie inactive making it near impossible for any antivirus to find them. Once you get rid of the active virus, one or two, but not all of the sleepers will activate leaving several more hidden and inactive, and what makes it even harder to "get rid of" is that it hides the sleepers in file that your antivirus normally doesn't check on a regular basis, ie... picture files, music, screen savers, etc.. It will also hide them in registry files, so doing a system repair won't work either.
