Question about Belkin (F5D7230-4) Router (587009)
I use my computer and laptop on the same desk, laptop and computer plugged in the router.
I want to be able to unplugged the laptop and be able to get internet through my computer.
I tried to connect to internet with a laptop on Vista, through a computer on XP sp3. But as soon as I enable Internet Connection Sharing on the Wireless Network Connection of the computer, It loses internet.
If I turn off ICS, I regain the connection.
How can I keep my "wired" internet connection on the computer and be able to connect to the internet with my laptop, through a wireless network connection from my computer?
Do not enable ICS on any of the computers that are connected to a router regardless if it's wired or wireless, you only need to enable ICS is if you don't have a router/server on your network(the purpose of a router is to share a single internet connection from your ISP). To connect your computer wirelessly to the router(on a Windows XP computer given that you do not have a 3rd party Wi-fi application installed) is to right click on wireless network connection on the System Tray(lower right hand side of the computer's Desktop near where the clock is) or you can do it the hard way by going to Control Panel then Network Connections and choose view available wireless network and under the list of available network that your computer can detect, select the network name(also called SSID) of your wireless router and try to connect(of course if you enabled Wi-fi security you also need to key-in the security key(WEP/WPA) you configured on your router and that's it both wired and wireless computer/devices connected to the router should work at the same time.

Check the wireless router and high-speed modem.
If the two are not powered on, or if the Ethernet cable connected the two is not completely inserted into both connection ports, you are unable to access the Internet on the Acer Aspire One laptop computer.
Activate the wireless Internet connection on the laptop computer.
Right-click the wireless icon on the desktop, then choose "Enable" from the pop-up menu.
Without activating the wireless receiver on the Acer Aspire One, the laptop is unable to detect any wireless network.
Select the appropriate network you wish to connect to.
Your computer may be attempting to connect to a different Internet connection, preventing you from access the network you desire. Right-click the wireless icon, select "Search for available wireless networks," then choose the network you want to access.
Restart the computer.
The system may have booted and failed to detect the wireless receiver. Restarting the computer corrects this issue.
hope this helps
