Problem for Canon PIXMA MX700 All-In-One InkJet Printer

My ink lamp does not light red-pixma mx700

Just took my new mx700 out of box-installed provided ink cartridges but for some reason they do not light up. when I close the the cover it asks me to install the print head and set the ink tank. I have taken the cartridges out and re installed with no luck. No red lights.

Have you installed the print head? It's a separate item in a foil colored sealed package. It must be installed and locked in before inserting the ink tanks. If you have done this and still get no lights on the ink tanks, there is something wrong with the unit itself.
