To remove the rtc (battery) you have to in most cases remove many screws and partially strip down laptop just to locate it and depending where it is the fun doesnt end there,if youre lucky and you know what youre looking for it may be staring right at you.but if youre not too confident or unsure
about stripping pc down dont bother.I have a few programs that will clear all password fields.you have to create a startup disk and then install the program onto it then startup pc with disk in drive and let the magic begin.I can send you the file via email(attachment)all the information of how to do will be with the file.

You have to open the casing which a bit hard . the battery is situated on the laptop motherboard . you have to pull out the battery restart the machine, turn off the machine and then put back the battery back. Please let me know if you encounter any problem

Bios password

Hi!

Bios password, time, date and other user settings are keeped in a CMOS powered by a 3V battery.

Removing this battery for a couple of minutes resets the BIOS password and also the time and date.

It's very easy to do so in a Desktop PC, because the battery is visible on the motherboard after opening the case, and it can be removed simply by using a non-metal tool, even a toothpick.
But it is complicated at laptops, because accessing the motherboard means taking the whole thing appart, and that requires some tools and skills.
In both situations (desktop and laptop) the power cord must be disconected before opening the case, and of course the laptop battery should be also removed.

My advise is if you are not experienced with opening the case of a laptop, to ask a qualified person to do that.

Good luck!

When powering up i get the acer screen with option to enter set up, my son has now put a password on the set up which he cant remember,so im now lolcked out of set up! please tell me if there is way to...

Hello,

You need to remove the BIOS battery for a few minutes, then put it back on.
This will reset BIOS settings and cancel the password authentication prompt at booting.

Hi i am an indian.sir my laptop toshiba model:satellite A130/A135 Series is asking for bios password.ples help me.

Hi.

If you dont remember the BIOS password, you may remove it by resetting the BIOS password.

Please follow the below steps to reset the BIOS password:

1) Please remove the bottom casing of the Notebook.
2) Once you have removed the below casing, you should be able to see a CMOS Battery.
3) The CMOS Battery will be of a size of a coin.
4) Once you have found the CMOS Battery, please remove and re-insert it again.
5) The CMOS Battery will have the information about the Computer Date, time, BIOS Password etc.,
6) Removing and re-inserting the CMOS Battery will reset these settings, which will also remove the BIOS password.

Please perform the above steps and let me know the results.

Hope this helps.

Please feel free to contact for further information and assistance.

Hi, I need some help (BIOS locked)...

ok i found a couple more things...apparently you dont have to remove the battery.. I found this site that tells you two "jumpers" (solder squares) C88 i believe under the network card. But if you follow this link and follow the directions it will get you going again.

I don't know exactly at what stage you are at and i hope i didn't cause any trouble but this normally is how we take care of this problem. Unless once in a blue moon we come across one like this.

Bios password

if you know the password, then when you go to change it instead of entering a new password just press enter on the keyboard. If you don't know the password try, admin or administration or even the word password.
