Hi there, this could be caused by several problems, unit shutting off on high head pressure due to the coil being very dirty. You can kill the power and take a water hose and was the coil out very good. Careful not to mash the aluminum fins for air flow. If this does not solve the problem, take the electrical panel off and look all of the wiring over for any burned or loose connections. You may need to call a service tech out so that they can check the internal windings off the compressor and the freon pressures. Hopefully its just a dirty coil and you will be good.

SOURCE: ptac fan keeps blowing

Try setting the fan control to "AUTO" this will cause it to cut out with the compressor.

SOURCE: 2 problems.. AC Comp cuts out. And Fan will not stop.

Unit#2 -Sounds like the contacts on the master switch are welded closed or the switch is broken, Replacing the switch should fix this unit.
#1 is a little more difficult to diagnose. The compressor is being taken off line by a circuit that protects the compressor from damage either; 1- liquid refrigerant getting back to the compressor which can be caused by something as simple as a clogged return air filter or evaporator coil on a heat pump or 2- overload situation caused by a bad condenser motor or a clogged condenser coil. The first thing you need to do is clean both coils and replace the filter,. Then check to be sure your getting good airflow across both coils. I think it's most likely an airflow issue I hope this resolves the problem GL!

SOURCE: Amana Cooling Condensing Unit fan stops spinning after 15 mins

Capacitor, dirty condencer coil causing the motor amps to run too high. But most likely worn bearing on blade side of motor causing it to pull to one side causing it to over heat and shut down. Sleve bearings should have no side play.

Assuming this is a heat pump I'm guessing you have a bad temp sensor. Your outdoor fan is likely controlled by a temp sensor so it only runs as needed during heating. Fan not coming on and compressor still needs cooled therefore compressor protection kicking in?????

My outside amana prestige ac unit ( rcb30c2a) gets very hot when it is turned on, but the fan does not turn.

Hello, try spinning the outside fan with a stick or a small object you can spin the fsn blades with, if this gets the motor running the capacitor must be replaced. If the motor does not start by manually pushing it the motor will have to be replaced.

Our older model amana wall unit is in the garage and worked fine until we programmed a new remote control garage door opener in there this morning. The ac unit was not on at the time but we went to turn it...

If it says E0 then what this usually means is that the unit was unplugged or power was cut to the unit while the unit was on. It then needs to be programmed again. If its the amana/goodman RSKP0009, you need to hold temp up and down arrows down together for two seconds then press off twice. It will take you into the programming mode. Settings are different for heat pump and electric heat models. If you just need a quick fix to get it to cool, I think you can get away with pushing the heat button a few times and then off. If you did it right the display should go off and the light by the off button will turn on. Press cool and it should work.

AC not blowing cold air

Remove the outside fuse from the unit that is not cooling... remove all the sheet metal from around the outside unit.. see if there is a lot of grass/weeds/ bird nests, or other material in the coils.. if there is... use a high pressure hose to clean the coils completely!!!!! (I had this done to mine...worked much better!!)..if this doesn't help,, I am afraid it might be time for some freon... and yes..its $$$$...

When we turn on our split AC, outside unit is not turning ON

The blinking light is because the unit is waiting for the outdoor unit to come on. If in heating mode, the indoor fan will not run before enough pressure and therefore heat has built up. You should check that the indoor air return sensor is not faulty and therefore preventing the outdoor unit from coming on.

does the blade spin freely with the unit off, if not the may be oil ports on the top and bottom edges of the motor. will it spin with the unit trying to run, if it feels like it is magnetized you need a motor.

check box near outdoor unit for a breaker or fuses
some thermostats have a 5 min delay when switched to a/c
check for external reset buttons at outdoor unit some are red depending on brand
check that all wires are intact at outdoor unit------none cut or hanging and not hooked to anything?

Air conditioning won't work. Thermostat says it's in 'recovery mode'

by the outside unit, you will have a shutoff. pull out the shutoff, and unscrew the cover. 2 cylinder like fuses are inside. It is likely that one or both are bad. When you turn on the AC and the outside fan does not turn on... this is likely this is the solution.
