Try this simple fix of error code 5100

The error 5100 actually means nothing. You need to look at the printers green and orange lights. they will be flashing in a certain sequence. Count the way the lamps flash ie.Green are mechanical faults and orange are operator correctable faults. When you have the info repost and i will help you further.

Code 5100 refers to a carriage that is not freely moving from side to side. Look to the far left and right for anything that would impede the carriage path.

Also, it is possible that the clear plastic encoder strip just behind the carriage path has become smudged with (most often) grease. You can clean the strip with a cotton swab dibbed in alcohol.

5100 means either the carriage is not moving freely back and forth or there is grease or ink on the encoder strip. You can clean that clear plastic strip behind the carriage with a Q-tip, but also check on the right and left side for paper scraps stopping the carriage.

Error 5100 is Carriage error.Possible problems in:
- Carriage unit
- Timing **** strip film
- Logic board assembly
- Carriage motor
First, make sure there is no paper jam anywhere in the machine.. look inside, rear, where the paper tray (output) is, etc to see if you find any shreds or torn paper that may have gotten stuck and you didn't see.Look carefully in the zone of Purge unit, using flashlight in the right side on printer.If this not help your printer need service.
