same thing here on my jvc gr-d70u

  • Anonymous Mar 20, 2009

JVC camcorder says my lens cap is on when the camcorder itself didn't even come with a lens cap. Highly annoying. Looking for a long term fix that doesn't involve a sledge hammer.

How do u take a len cap off the camcorders. i took the plastic one off . and it just display len cap is still on in the back grond is blue

The internal iris is stuck closed. This is not a DIY repair. If you can update this with the make and model of the camcorder, I can supply more details and a repair estimate.

Thanks,
Dan

My camcorder seems to think the lens cap cover is on even though it's not! as a result i get no picture in the lcd or viewfinder

There is 2 possibilities. One is defective CCD imager IC, which do not generating picture signal and 2nd is Lens Cover Switch, which is not funtioning properly.
Please check both of them.

Jvc mini dv camcorder, telling me that the lens cap is on, when it is not

The iris is stuck inside the lens assembly. This is not a home repair. This unit should be taken to a JVC authorized service center.

Looking through the problems posted for all jvc camcorders it became obvious that mine was CCD problem, encountered by many others. Also jvc are fixing this for free, so if you have this problem go to a jvc sevice centre and you should have no problems. Suffice to say this site was invaluable in diagnosing my problem, and you have been recommended to my friends. Thankyou, I'll be back.

Lost lens cap

I would sugest using an adaptor ring. You can reduce the size of your lens opening down a common size lens cap that will fit your camera. If you can't go this route then give me the make and model number and I will see what I can do for you. LJ
