BAD DEAL! IF IT'S COMPATIBLE FOR XP IT WON'T WORK IN VISTA. VISTA IS NOT BACKWARD COMPATIBLE. HECK IT BARELY LIKES ITS OWN PROGRAMS AND I CAN BARELY GET THEM TO RUN. I STILL HAVE NEVER BEEN ABLE TO DOWNLOAD VISTA, SP1 AND I EVEN GOT THE CD! BUT THAT ****** WILL NOT INSTALL NO MATTER WHAT! NO WONDER MS IS BRING OUT WINDOWS7 AND CANNING VISTA! BUT AS TO YOUR PROBLEM, I DON'T KNOW OF ANY WAY TO FOOL VISTA INTO ACCEPTING THAT PROGRAM. IT JUST WON'T DO IT. HECK, I CAN;T EVEN GET PROGRAMS FROM PC WORLD TO DOWNLOAD TO MY VISTA HOME PREM! AIN'T THAT A KICK? WHAT A PAIN. ALMOST NOTHING DOWNLOADS UNDER VISTA. IT'S A NIGHTMARE! THERE MIGHT BE SOMEONE WHO HAS SOME TRICK TO DO IT BUT I HAVEN'T BEEN ABLE TO DO IT.IF YOU HAD TWO DRIVES YOU COULD INSTALL IT ON THE OTHER DRIVE, BUT OTHERWISE IT'S BAD NEWS. SORRY I COULDN'T DO MORE.

If this is causing you to have crashes, the .exe is probably corrupt. It belongs to booster and certain tuneup utility programs ("Dachshund Integrator or TuneUp Utilities (version 2006, 2009) or Glary Utilities (version 3) or Glary Utilities PRO or Auslogics BoostSpeed"). If you have any of these programs installed I'd uninstall it and restart your computer. Then reinstall if you want to use the program still, though preferably after an update. I'd also clean your computer with CCleaner and remove junk files before reinstalling. This will clear corrupted files that might not have been removed with the uninstallation of the program. If you continue to experience this issue, install sandbox and make sure the program runs within sandbox. This will prevent any faults or issues with the program from interfering with your OS.

Close the Programe (Notice)

User permissions issue. Go to C:\program files\microsoft\fsx and find the fsx.exe icon. Right-click it, choose properties, and tick the check box for "always run as administrator". This process doesn't always work doing this from the FSX shortcut.

Consent UI for administrative applications has stopped working

Consent.exe is part of Windows Vista UAC (user access control). If you are having problems, try going back to a restore point and see if you can add/remove programs. If you don't have a restore point where you can do that, then you will have to use the recovery CD which will require the admin password. If you didn't set a password, it could be blank, just try pressing Enter.

Consent.exe is part of Windows Vista - it's the User Access Control (UAC) executable.

There is a known malware version of this executable. Do a search on your hard drive (within Windows Vista, obviously) for all consent.exe files - make sure you include hidden and system files in the search criteria.

Once the search has completed, right-click on each file and check the file properties.

There is a MalWare version of Consent.exe

  • Vendor Information: Microsoft Corporation
  • Product Information: Consent UI for administrative applications
  • Version Information: 6.0.5728.16387
  • CONSENT.EXE may use 3 or more path and file names, these are the most common:
  • 1 :%windir%\winsxs\backup\X86_MICROSOFT-WINDOWS-LUA_31....A1C2
  • 2 :?:\windows.old\windows\winsxs\backup\X86_MICROSOFT-WINDOWS-LUA_31....A1C2
  • 3 :?:\X86_MICROSOFT-WINDOWS-LUA_31....A1C2

  • If you find a consent.exe anywhere else in the search results, I'd delete that file. Run a thorough anti-virus scan of the harddrive. I'd also download spybot and run it as well as downloading Ad-Aware from Lavasoft and using it to scan as well.

Spybot and Ad-Aware can find different spyware/malware, which is why I recommend running both products.

Once you've done all that, reboot the system. That should fix the problem.

How To Make Vista Bootable DVD with WIM Downloaded Files If you have purchased Windows Vista online and taken the delivery of the latest operating system via web download from Windows Marketplace, you would ends up with a few downloads with .wim and .exe file extensions. Rather than paying additional shipping and handling charges, you can burn or create a bootable ISO DVD image from downloaded Vista files with the following trick, where the .iso image can subsequently write to a DVD. The DVD created will be the typical 32-bit Windows Vista DVD that available in retail channel, and can be used to clean install.

How to make a bootable Windows Vista ISO DVD media

    1. Put all 3 downloaded files (namely install.wim, boot.wim and an executable X13-49120.exe) in the same folder (for this tutorial, let’s assume the files are put on C:\ else you need to modify the path accordingly).
    2. Run the X13-49120.exe executable. Windows Vista Setup Preparation will create a new folder “Vista” inside the folder and will populate the folder with all necessary Vista setup files which takes up about 2.52 GB disk space.
    3. Exit from the Install Windows screen.
    4. Download CDimage 2.52
    5. Extract CDimage from CDimage.zip to the C:\ root directory.
    6. Open a command prompt shell, and run the following command:

    cdimage.exe -lVISTA_EN_DVD -m -u2 -bC:\Vista\boot\etfsboot.com C:\Vista\ C:\Vistax86.iso

Bootable Windows Vista x86 DVD ISO image in UDF format will be created as vistax86.iso in C:\ or any folder you specified above.
    7. Burn the newly create ISO with a CD/DVD burning software such as Nero or Alcohol 120%. Try to burn at low speed (i.e. 4X) and turn on verification to ensure that the DVD creation is fine.

Create a Windows Vista ISO image and DVD with Oscdimg

Another possible way to create a bootable Vista ISO and DVD is by using Oscdimg CD-ROM and DVD-ROM Premastering Utility, available via WinPE (Windows Preinstallation Environment) via Business Desktop Deployment 2007 or Windows Automated Installation Kit (AIK)

    1. Complete step 1 - 3 as above.
    2. In the command prompt window, run the following command:

    oscdimg -bC:\Vista\boot\etfsboot.com -h -u2 -m -lVISTA_EN_DVD C:\Vista\ C:\VistaDVD.iso

A VistaDVD.iso UDF DVD image will be created and can be used to boot the computer from DVD to install Vista.
    3. Burn the ISO image file by using last step above.
