Thank you for the clarifiaction it seems that you cannot uninstall IE in Vista, but you can disable it. If you go to the control panel, and double click on "default Programs" the last of four options will be "Set Program Accesses and Computer Defaults". Tell the User Account Control prompt to "continue", then click the radio-button by the "custom" option, and then hit the expand arrows to the far left, it'll take you to a bunch of options. the first is "Choose a default web browser". If you [i]un-check]/i] the box by Internet Explorer, you will pretty much only be able to access it through the "run" prompt, if at all, and no third-party programs will open links in IE.
hope it helps!

Missing tool bar when I uploaded to Explorer 7. I cant click on tools to get it back because I dont have a tool bar to acces

Try to uninstall IE7. Once it's removed, restart your computer then it will revert back to the older version IE6. After that you can opt to install IE7 again or much better a newer version like 8 or 9.

To uninstall IE7, kindly follow these steps:
  1. Close all programs.
  2. Click Start and then click Control Panel.
  3. Click Uninstall a Program under the Programs category
  4. In the Tasks pane, click View installed updates.
  5. In the list of installed updates, double-click Windows Internet Explorer 7. In the Uninstall an update dialog box, click Yes.

Note If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type the password, or click Continue.
  6. Follow the instructions to uninstall Internet Explorer 7.
  7. When the uninstall program is finished, restart your computer.
  8. After you restart your computer, open Internet Explorer. Click Help>About Internet Explorer and check if it's on version 6. If it is then proceed with upgrading to a higher version again.

    Hope this helps.

What is this? Webpage error details User Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 8.0; Windows NT 6.0; Trident/4.0; GTB6; SLCC1; .NET CLR 2.0.50727; Media Center PC 5.0; .NET CLR 3.5.21022; .NET CLR 3.5.30729;...

Ok, I finally solved the problem, although it was for sure not the most
elegant way and I'm still not sure I didn't broke something else in the
process...

For those who may want to give it a try, here is all I did up to the moment
it started working again:
- Remove every single Microsoft internet software: All Windows live
applications, IE8, .Net Platform, etc.
- Remove every single app I knew had a link with IE : Sun's Java, Adobe
Flash Plugin, Skype, Cooliris, etc.
- Go to IE7's menu: Tools -> Options -> Contents -> Certificates, and remove
every single one issued by or for Microsoft (this is the step I'm the most
afraid of..., if I were you I'd try the first time without doing this...)
- Go to IE7's menu: Tools -> Options -> Advanced, and restore original
configuration (which in theory sets IE back to the "just installed" moment).

After all that, my.live.com is working again flawlessly, even after
re-installing IE8.

Of course, this was a last desperate move after having tried everything else.
If I had to do it again, I'd follow this trial procedure:
- Uninstall IE8 and restore original config in IE7.
- (if still not working) : Uninstall all programs with a IE plugin and try
restoring IE7 original config again.
- (if still not working) : Uninstall all Microsoft Internet software
(specially Live stuff and .Net) and try again restoring IE7 config.
- (if still not working) : Remove non root Microsoft certificates and try
again restoring IE7 config.
- (if still not working) : Remove all remaining Microsoft certificates and
try again restoring IE7 config.

I need to change my internet explorer 8 to internet explorer 7 & i have windows vista

Hi,
Click on the start menu (orb), go to the Control Panel and select Programs & Features. From the list of installed software locate IE8 and uninstall it.

Restart your computer and download IE7 from here (its say's it's for XP, just ignore that it will work on Vista)

May i also recommend Mozilla Firefox. This much easier and faster than any version of Internet Explorer. Get it here >>>>>

It might have been caused due to some problem in internet explorer 7(IE7)

Try to uninstall IE7. You can use the following method if it does not show up in add/remove programs.
Reference: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/927177
NOTE:

IF SP3 was installed AFTER IE7, you MUST uninstall SP3 first, uninnstall IE7, then re-install SP3. If SP3 is NOT installed, simply follow the procedure as shown.

Step 1:

Make hidden files and hidden folders visible
Click Start, and then click My Documents.
On the Tools menu, click Folder Options.
Click the View tab.
In the Advanced settings list, under Hidden files and folders, click Show hidden files and folders, and then click OK.
Step 2:

Uninstall Internet Explorer 7
To uninstall Internet Explorer 7, follow these steps:
Click Start, and then click Run.
In the Open box, type %windir%\ie7\spuninst\spuninst.exe, and then click OK.
Follow the wizard instructions to uninstall Internet Explorer 7.

Installed IE8 and I hate it, want to go and reinstall IE7

Try uninstalling IE8 and it should put IE7 back in. Failing that uninstall 8 then 7 then update to 7. Of course if they want you to use 8 then they probably took 7 off the udate page. Then you could backup hard drive, re-install windows, put in the service packs and get back to IE7. Option 3: learn to live with 8.

Getting message stating add-on was running when problem occurred

Try going into your control panel & uninstall your Internet explorer, then re-install it. IE7 uninstall can be found in the main add-remove program window, IE6 uninstall can be found under the add-remove windows components part of the add-remove programs. To re-install IE7, though, you need to go to windows update to download IE7 again. This won't be a problem because uninstalling IE7 automaticaly returns you to IE6

I need to get instructions as to ho2w to uninstall Exporer and reinstall to try to correct a reliability issue

To avoid possible headaches from interference, I suggest you uninstall in Safe Mode:
Turn your PC on or Restart. As soon as you see the black and white screen, press and hold the F8 key. Continue holding until you see a black and white menu. Safe Mode is F3 or F5.

Uninstall IE7
1. Click Start, and then click Control Panel. 2. Click Add or Remove Programs. 3. Scroll down to Windows Internet Explorer 7, click it, and then click Change/Remove.
If for some reason Windows Internet Explorer 7 does not appear in the Add or Remove Programs you should:
1. Open Windows Explorer 2. Click Tools | Folder Options 3. Click the View tab 4. Make sure the radio button next to Show hidden files and folders is on  5. Click OK 6. Click Start, and then click Run 7. Type: %windir%\ie7\spuninst\spuninst.exe into the text box and click Enter

Internet explorer canot display web page? ---winxp pro/ desktop computor

I found lots of problem with Ie7,what I personal do is
1.I have a second option for my Browser, that is I install mozilla
firefox.I use it for my default browser. You can download it here
http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/

2.I downgrade my IE7 to IE6 by going to ADD/Remove program
and uninstall IE7.After that your IE7 will become IE6
** Windows default is IE6,if you uninstall IE7,your system will become IE6 Automatically.

Best is to try the first step,I think this will help to solve your problem.
Takecare.
