Conexant High Definition Smart Audio22-No stereo mix/line in problem

I have a Hp Pavilion dv9700 Notebook PC...AMD Turion 64x2 Mobile Technology TL-60 running 32 bit Windows Vista Home Premium. I am trying to broadcast streaming video (.avi files) to justin.tv but there is no audio. I am aware of the general problem going on with notebooks unable to get a stereo mix or line in. I have scoured the net looking for help, from installing drivers to VAC to spending hours on the phone with HP...no help. Can you please recommend a way for me to be able to sort this problem out?
Thanks very much,

No, it only occurs when I broadcast. I have been told that my sound card's stereo mix/line in/out capabilities have been turned off. apparently it's a big problem with new notebooks...

    Hi Drlativ,
Thanks so much for your advice. I did as was instructed but the only thing option I get is "Microphone" and not with wave, line-in, stereo mix or anything...

This is quite a conundrum. I spend 5 hours tonight in chat with a fixya guru with no success at all. I really am at the end of my rope on this issue and have a hard time believing that my $1200 laptop can't broadcast...I am streaming to justin.tv, by the way. Again, thanks for your advice. Maybe tomorrow...

The computer I'm on.. an HP DV2000 belonging to my best friend.. with Vista has this problem. I have an older DV6000 with the same soundcard, but with XP. And I use Waveout with Audacity all the time.. Does anyone think it could be changed by something in the registry??

Same problem. No stereo mix or wave mix for line in on toshiba laptop. Annoyingly, old HP nx600 had it. HP dv8333 works ok as do two pavilion desktops - its simply the coundcard and no wa round it without replacing the card - nothing to do with hidden devices or windows

i hvae Compaq prsario C304 i had windows xp instaled with conxant sound card ,it was fine, i had miv, cd,waveout for playing sound out of sound card , i upgreaded to windows Vista Home . now i don;t have streomix or waveout ,all it shows, 2 mic , and cd ,after Enabling all hided itemes, again upgreaded to Vista Ultimate , still i don't have streomix or wave. i talked with Hp Tec's ,their answer was my sound card doesn't suport streo mix, which i diid not belive what they said, becouse why when i have Xp OS my sound card suport streo mix ,but when i change to Vista , now my sound card doesn't have streo mix function, i belive it is Vista,s problem ,
is any body out there could find a solution ???

  • angiebaby570 Feb 11, 2009

Exactly, every site you go to it tells you to simply right click and check show disabled devices... It doesn't show anything more when you do that. I heard Vista has it set like that to protect piracy... Well then when I pulled out over a grand to purchase this laptop,it should have had on the box or in the manual that I cannot do such a thing. It is ridiculous, that everyone has to search site after site to not even find a resolution. Not to mention when you call support they either have no idea what you are talking about or tell you to click disabled devices. RIDICULOUS

    i have the same problem

hp artist edition with conexant, paid like 1200 dollar for it last year

and it cant even do this simple thing?

    ffs

luckily i have a shitty solution for just only my type of laptop, it has two headphones out jacks, i can plug one of them into the microphone jack with male male 3.5mm so i can record from mic then

it helps somewhat but not all the way

i am thinking of maybe i can get drivers for another soundcard, i have the latest for mine, if i got other drivers, maybe it would work?

this is the first that come to my mind

cuz as it is now, there is no "hidden" **** to be found in the soundtabs.

another solution would be to install ubuntu or ubuntu studio or some other linux and use the jack audio server or maybe pulseaudio soundserver and some kind of windows emulation if you need the windows programs.

thanks for the reply..saw something, will it help?
But, if you try the same trick with Windows Vista, you won't see an option for Wave Out Mix. It's not that the option's been left out of Vista, Microsoft just decided to hide it. Media Center Show podcast producer Ian Dixon has the instructions for enabling Wave Out recording:
Select sound from the control panel.
    Select the recording tab.
Right click on the background of the tab and choose "show disabled devices."
Right click on Wave Out Mix and click enable.
Now it should work the same way as Wave Out Mix in Windows XP, allowing you to record any sound your computer makes

uh by the way where are u trying to stream to..didnt catch that properly..

Riiizla, could you explain the steps involved in configuring Virtual Audio Cable? Am not a Pro with such things, but I have lost the ability to stream music into a chat room since buying a new HP laptop. Any help would be much appreciated.

Hp Pavillion-Conexant High Definition Smart Audio221-No Stereo Mix-Need Driver?

I've upgraded the driver from HP sp34200 version 3.26.0.0 to 3.45.0.50 using the files from Microsoft update catalog. This driver is now 3.45.0.50 and includes STEREO MIX. You can use the setup.exe for automatic install.
Note that due to changes, the driver is obviously no longer digitally signed.
The driver matches: HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_14F1&DEV_5045&SUBSYS_103C30D9

by doesn't fit, do you mean gives you a microsoft verification error, such as "this driver is not verified by Microsoft."?

If that is the case, let it install anyhow. HP knows better than Microsoft whether the drivers will work.
