Comment by n300zx, posted on Nov 05, 2008Unithas been removed from the car for several days, checked for visual signs of damaged components, and replaced in vehicle. No sign of screen coming to life when plugged into wiring and switched on, however Automatic Radio Antenna extends when Power button is activated. Any more ideas?

Re: In Car DVD Player 7
Well the radio is really functioning based on what you are saying. there was a comment post by world vet in the premiums that you opened up. i saw and he has a point. the display could have been damaged by voltage surge. but you did not jumped start it right?.. it could happen during jump starting or starting with a big electric charger. if there would, be non sense response from some of the experts here, might as well have it repair or if the repair is so much as to buy a new one, then i suggest this is a lesson learned to turne off all electronics before jumps starting or pushing the car to start.

If it had been working fine before, it means either the powerconnection to the player is not available anymore (loose powerplugs) or there might be internal damage to the player. This can occur when the polarity of the car-battery got reversed accidentally while repairing the car. Another thing might be the internal battery of the player is dead. This battery is used to store date / time and other data.
So, first check the Voltage of the car-battery. Second, check the power-connections at the back of the player. If you still can't locate the problem, you should check if your player is still under warranty. If not, and as a last thing, well, if you got some electronics knowledge and tools, open up the interior of the player and look for suspicious looking components, like broken fuses, blown capacitors, black spots at the PCB (*) etc.
(*) PCB is the green board inside the player, where all tiny electronic components are mounted.
Hello! The (+) battery cable is touching chassis ground at one of two likely places...#1...At the connection to the starter motor...#2...at the underside of the power distribution center...There are two Red cables leaving the + battery post...One is going to the starter motor and the other to the Power Distribution Center... First...Disconnect the (+) terminal from the battery..visually inspect the connection point at the starter motor...Insure it is not near or touching ground....Follow the smaller of the two Red leads to the distribution center...The cover has the word "Positive" and an arrow pointing to where that Red lead terminates...Check for signs of burning...Visually inspect the Red lead from the battery to where it connects to the distribution center...Remove and inspect the underside of the Distribution center for a contact point to ground...Send a comment with results...Guru...Saailer
If it is still under warranty then target have to exchange or give money back if faulty not sure what country you are in but consumer affairs should be able to assist you. The seller must honor their warranty period
if 12v sourse and ground are connected check under hood for fuse block make sure all fuses are good also check cab of car and verify all fuses are good and check wiresconnected to player for fuse as well as the unit itself if still no power verifyall connections are tight. If this does not work your unit is bad you could try opening it and looking for visual damage i.e. button for power has a broken wire
Try looking under bottom edge of control pad that says monogram on it. You should see 2 or 3 holes. Push in with a blunt object in either end hole while pulling panel forward. Then dot the center if has one, then the end one. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE POWER OFF!! Now you can see 4 screws to access rest of dispenser.
