I bought a 1 year old used DDR583R that wasn't used for most of the last year. The woman told me that it was working well. before. I notice that the RH sensor displayed on the LCD 2% of RH!! I'm not an engineer but I know that is impossible in Eastern Canada. So to be sure, I bought an hygrometer. I read 70% RH. The only way to make the dehumidifier working is to turn it on continuously.
Is there a way to fix the RH sensor problem?
Thank you Nick
PS: I also noticed a weird smell kind of burning dust.
-   I have the same issue. I thought that 2% was too low, and if I set it to "--" to bypass the humidistat, I does collect water from the air, and it does get full. I have to see if if my unit is still under warranty, but I doubt it.-   roadcarver

-   RH sensor didn't seem to work. It read as 16% all the time which did'nt
reflect the acture huminity. Because of that, the mechine doesn't ****
up the water, meaning that it can not serve as a dehumidifier anymore.
Any way to fix that?

Model DDR6588EE - called Danby and they will not tell me what part I need or how I can order it due to liability associated with electrical work needed. Authorized service people will charge at least $120 (all-in) to diagnose what sensor it is, order sensor and repair it...bottom line is that i think i need to get a new one (NOT A DANBY)... if anyone else has any ideas on a solution, please let me know...
