    Hey there,

Thank you for the information. Was this the first time your system has been shut down? Secondly, if you are prepared to do a fresh install, do you realize all stored files and programs will be lost. Not to mention you will require all the drivers for your system.

    Hey there

Have you just done a new install of an operating sytem? Or did this just occur out of the blue? Please elaborate on the circumstances leading up to this point. Thanks.

I have ATA & IDE contacts in my Mother board, I install Barracuda 80Gb disk how IDE third disk, windows start normally in ATA disk. nice, The BIOS detect ok how master or slave, but the barracuda is impossible vacun with antivirus, a Recovery Diskcan not detect archives. I will to use FDISK, if don't recovery data, like recovery disk.

Might be a damaged sector. Otherwise i would think you (by accident) created a seperate partition on your C:\ (? main) HD. The cause of damage can be many things, certain types of certain brands or more sensitive in how fast these sectors get damaged. But you can at least try to repair them with the disk repair utility in Win XP, called ChkDsk ("check disk"). However, what may end up happening is that ChkDsk will mark the sector as bad (instead of attempting to recover any information) and your hard drive will no longer 'hover' over top of that area of the drive, making it impossible to recover any data on the sector. Maybe try to google for (free) BETTER third party software for this first. So what caused it is hard to discover after it happened, but you can try to repair it.

What is the Internal Interface of Barracuda 7200.7 ST380011A

READ THE MANUAL AT SEAGATE.
or look at the chips there, see those I/O chips
see the p/n on them. look them up and read the data sheets.
see the pata pins, see them , enter the PCB with copper traces
they land on the I/O chip, and is clearly labeled on all mine.
great question, I worked as and ATE test system programmer and we do this all the time. There are many tests. not just i/o.

Not reading correct gb

What is it reading?

Note that 74.5 times 1024 times 1024 times 1024 divided by 1000 divided by 1000 divided by 1000 is 80.

So, if you use base-ten arithmetic, you have an 80Gb disk,
but if you use base-two arithmetic, you have a 74.5GB disk.

Why hdd shows mbr error

Because either it was corrupted by a bad reboot or (more probably when considering the age of the disk) the disk is dying. Fix the MBR if possible or boot from a Linux Live-CD, recover all your files and replace the disk.
