This might actually be normal, whats the complaint??? to long to dry clothes maybe 2-3 cycles??? would be a common complaint. in which id check to make sure vent is not clogged anywhere, especially where exiting the home if he venting is ok id replace the coils atop the gas valve, possible and common for that matter that after running for 20-30 min they do not reopen and dont allow flem to reignite... part number 279834 retails for about $20 easy enough repair.... reason for flame to go on and turn off after only 30 secs is that in an empty dryer 30 secs of heat may be enough to satisfy the thermostat, that's alot of heat for an empty dryer, it would remain on for longer with a load of wet clothes absorbing the heat

Why won't my gas dryer heat?

Hi,
If your flame comes on for a few seconds & goes away, replace your solenoids. ($3.00)
If your flame doesn't come on at all, it could be the fuse(unsure of cost) Check the neg/pos lead with an OHM meter(multi meter), to see if there is continuity.
Let us know if this helps!

Dryer wont stay lit

if the flame is liting most likely problem is bad air movement.go outside with thedryer running and check the hood to see how strong the air is blowing out,if there's a cage or anything blocking the hood remove it,if the vent line is a long run remove the vent line from the back of the dryer, stick a leaf blower into it and blow out the lint to the outside.also with the dryer unplugged, remove the bottom panel, remove the lint filter and metal duct the filter slides into, clean that out and blow out the blower wheel with a shop vac,you can blow out the gas tube where the flame ignites to make sure it's clean blow off the motor and the cabinet and vac up all lint that blows forwards.you can try running the dryer with the vent line removed to see if it runs any better.when the dryer first heats up the flame will come on until the temp. is reached and it will shut down, one more thing to check, when gas coils start to fail you'll have heat for like the first 15 to 30 minutes, then when the coils heat up the ignitor will glow but no flame, after the coils cool down they will work again.how are you running it on timed dry or more or less dry,if you run it on auto or more or less dry there's a sensor inside where the lint filter is,try cleaning it up or try running it on timed dry to see if it runs any different, when on auto the heat comes on,when it reaches temp. the heat stops and the timer will advance, when it calls for heat the timer stops and the heat comes back on,it will do this until the clothes are dry.your model has an even heat board in it that can also cause problems but if the flame is liting it sounds like you have a block somewhere.go here this will tell you a little more about your model dryer.

I have a gas dryer, model MDG7657AWW that will not stay heated. Every time I put it on, the flame comes on for about 21 seconds & then shuts off. I replaced the igniter, hi limit thermostat, cycling t

On a gas dryer the heat normally only comes on for 30 seconds or until the drum temp reaches 160f at which time the flame is shut down by the cycling thermostat. The drum temp then starts to drop. When the drum temp reaches 105f then another blast of heat is issued for 30 more seconds. That is how they work. Put it all back together and trow a load in there.

The dryer heats up for a short time then cools down after about 1 minute. How do i repair? This is a Whirlpool LGQ9508PW0

From what you are saying you need to replace the gas valve coils. You need to remove the front to access them. They are on top of the gas valve.

Dryer won't dry

Well lets talk about it a minute. The ignitor is ok because it does glow. The flame sensor is ok because the ignitor is working. The only other thing in the circuit is the solenoids. So what goes wrong? Those coils get hot and quit with age.7ecd66c.jpg Replace them and the dryer will come back to life.5dc4e80.jpg

Whirlpool model GGQ8858EQ1 gas dryer starts, gets flame and begins heating. then after a short while flame shuts off and i hear a chattering noise somewhere near the bottom of dryer. It lasts for about...

The problem is your gas valve solenoids (coils). There are usually two of them mounted on the burner assembly. One is the MAIN coil, the other is the SECONDARY coil. It is recommended that you replace BOTH of them at the same time. Replacements can be purchased on line at appliancepartspros.com. Just type in the model number you provided and look under the "Burner Assembly" section for items 13 and 14. I hope this helps you.
