Hood Lights not working

Failed to disconnect power when I last changed light bulb. Now, hood lights (work light and night light) don't work. Everything else on this unit seems to be OK. What is best way to repair lights? Thanks, Len

I have a GE micro ange hood Model# HVM1540DM1BB, bulbs blew, change them out, now the lights will not shut off. I have powered it down over night, pluged it back in next morning same thing. Any ideas

There is a possibility that the light relay is stuck on. Sometimes a sharp tap on the relay will fix it. If not the control board will need replacing.

Lights on bottom don't work. Sockets fell apart and vent fan now does not work. A bulb blew out , then all of this happened.

We see and repair this a lot. The problem is on the control board, which we regularly repair for $39.95 nationwide.

This light failure often occurs when a bulb goes out and the filament shorts, or when the bulbs are removed or installed without first unplugging the oven from the power line. Either can cause such a failure on the controller.

The lights can can be inoperable or stuck on or stuck in "night light" mode. Sometimes this will similarly affect the fan operation or inside light, too.

We'd also recommend buying top-quality bulbs.

They can blow if subjected to vibration such as door slamming or a weak floor, or electrical fluctuation, especially if they are cheap bulbs or they are left on all night.

Instead of having the board repaired, you can order a new control circuit board / smart board if that's economical, and since your sockets are bad, they will need to be replaced, too.

You can find links to helpful exploded view diagrams and part ordering help here. I recommend that you bookmark that link to your

favorites.

There's a YouTube video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

If you're changing the board yourself, you'll need to detach the keypad connector:

Some connectors will have a lock.

This is far less than a replacement circuit board, assuming it's even available anymore.
