1. TV on.
2. On your Dish Network remote PRESS AND HOLD the small clear tv button until all buttons across the top of the remote light up and release. The only button lit should be the clear tv button that will be flashing.
3. Press the small red tv button next to the power button and release it. This should leave the clear tv button that was flashing lit solid.
4. Now slowly depress the channel up key until the tv turns off. Each time the up channel button is depressed the clear tv button will cease being lit and once it is released the clear tv button should remain solid. If the clear tv button flashes multiple times it usually means there is no known code for your tv, there may be another code that will work so continue on.
5. Once you are successful in getting the TV turned off press the channel down button once and then the channel up button. This should turn the TV back on.
6.Press the # key button on the remote. The clear tv button should flash three times then press the record button and try the volume up/down and the small red tv button. You should be able to turn volume up and down and turn tv on /off. If only one of these function it means that you have only found a half code and need to try the process again. Not all TV's have full codes or any codes at all especially combo units.
This is the easier of the two methods as it sometimes will find codes that will work but are not listed. If you prefer to try the method of entering in the code numbers for your TV I gladly get them for you however I will need to know the brand of tv and if it is a combo DVD or VHS model, your receiver type, and the remote type which can be found on the back of thew remote. I also have provided the link to Dish Networks Tech Portal SO YOU CAN LOOK UP THE CODES FOR THE TV TYPE THAT YOU HAVE BASED ON THE RECEIVER YOU ARE USING THE 8.0 IN CONJUNCTION WITH. The 8.0 was only issued with the 381 and 811 receivers and are pretty old from the technology standpoint and therefore newer model tvs may not be supported by this remote.

If this remote was sent to you though as a replacement and will not operate the receiver please let me know that as well as that will be a different procedure. I hope this assists you and thank you for using Fix Ya. Let me know if I can be of further assistance.

Addressing Remote to DVD:

1.) Press and hold the clear AUX button until all mode lights light up.

3.) Press 2 and enter the code. (Example: If the code is 639, enter 2639)
4.) Press pound (#)
5.) Try functions (Power, Volume, etc..) and see if it is working.
6.) If no function, repeat steps 1-4 with another code.

Sanyo TV Code for Dish remote 21.0 IR/UHF PRO only operates TV Power and Volume Functions.

Hello Witt Thomas,

I can understand the concern and wanting the remote to work the TV Menus. It is possible with our remotes, however it depends on the TV itself. I've seen instances where there are 2 TV's in one house, and 1 will do it, while the other won't.

If you have tried all of the remote codes, and none work, the only other options we have available are to try a powr scan, or teach the remote. This link http://www.mydish.com/support/teach-learning-remote-20-21 can provide the steps on how to teach that model of remote control!

Let me know if you have any other questions.

How to program remote to dish? 4.4 IR/UHF PRO

Your question is not clear as to whether you want to program the remote to your TV or the DISH receiver. Here are steps for both if this has not been resolved already!

DISH RECEIVER::
1. Go to the room where the receiver is located. With the remote for THAT room press menu twice. (This will be the remote with the Green 1 on the bottom.)
2. Press and release the SAT button on the top left of the remote
3. Press and release the black and red record button 3 times
4. Look that the number next to remote address (secondary Remote address) has changed.
5. If not, start again.

TV::
1. Hold down the Clear TV button until all lights at the top of the remote light up
2. Press the red TV POWER button
3. Press and release the up arrow on the remote about once a second until the tv turns off.
4. When it turns off, press the # (Pound) button
5. Try powering the tv on/off, and try the volume. If one or more of these functions do not work, start over at step 1 again.

Remote lights up as if it is going to work however it won't do anything batteries are new, so that is not an issue almost seems like it needs to be re programmed or something my 2 year old could have...

Without knowing the exact issue I can only provide general information. Since it seems like it may be a satellite address problem, I can definitely help with readdressing the remote.

To program remote to Receiver:
1. Access System Information from main receiver.
2. Note the number on the bottom by Primary Remote Address/Secondary Remote Address.
3. Hold SAT until all lights turn on on top of the remote.
4. Enter a number between 1-15 and press #.
5. Press record 3 times after it finishes blinking and the number by remote address should change.

IR remote-Bizare Problem

Okay I am a bit confused as to the exact problem you are having but I will give you multiple avenues to resolve thios issue.

Assuming that the issue exists with TV1's remote:

Some IR remotes experience interference with other peripherals at times. The easiest way to resolve this is to get an 8.0 remote that is IR/UHF capable.Using the front panel buttons or the old remote place the receiver into UHF Pro mode by pressing menu-6-1-6 . You should be on UHF Pro setup: move the highlight to the left and go to the enable selection, press select and move the highlight back to the right to done.exit out of all screens. Then press the menu button twice to get to the system info screen. Here we will be canging the remote address of the new 8.o remote to the number for the primary remote address. This number is near the bottom of the screen. On the 8.0 press the small SAT button in the upper left hand of the remote and hold until all light on the top light up, enter the number on the screen for the primary remote using the keypad on the 8.0, press the pound sign, the SATbutton should flashh three times, then press the record button. Now you should be able to use the new remote normally. You will need to program the remote to the TV if you were able to control volume and turn TV on and off before. Since this is a different model remote it may or may not be compatible with the TV. If you need assistance with programming the remote to the TV itself just post another request for assistance and one of Fix Ya's Expert will hook you up. You can also find the solution in the archives of previous solutions as that issue is commonly addressed in this forum.

If the issue lies with the TV2 remote I would suggest moving the antenna off the back of the receiver into the room TV 2 is located. This can be accomplished by following the following diagram. If you still need assistance please let me know. I hope this solves your issue.

I HAVE AREMOTE FROM DISH NETWORK THAT WAS MANUFACUFACTURED BY YOUR COMPANY. IT WILL NOT DO ANYTHING. I KEEP CHANGING THE BATTERIES AND IT SAYS LOW BATTERY. NOW I CAN NOT EVEN CHANGE STATIONS. WHAT DO I...

Jim,
If the remote keeps draining batteries at an unusual rate, which is what it sounds like you are describing, there is an internal fault in the circuitry of the remote and the remote must be replaced. Once you get the new remote I can help you program it to your receiver and to your tv. It is a fairly simple process but will probablty get lost before you get your new remote if I explain it to you now. Make sure that the remote is the same model type that you have now. The remote model number will be on the back and will be a two digit number e.g. 8.0, 6.3 etc. There are three basic types of remotes: Infra red, UHF, and UHF pro which is an IR/ UHF combo; and you want to ensure you get the proper type. Let me know when you have the new remote so I can get you set up correctly again and I apologize for the inconvenience you have had with this equipment.

Sincerrely,
Jim
