Did you try using another power cord to see if it starts? Could be a weak power cord or intermittent failing power cord.

Could also be a short in the system preventing power to flow through the laptop

My ls4278 is not lighting up when on the cradle, will not scan or charge...i have 3 scanners and cradles and somehow all the scanners stopped working completely..all the cradles have the light on but when...

The most unlikely scenario is that all the bases are defective. If you power your PC off every night, you should purchase a power supply so the scanners can continuously charge. Another issue may be that you need new batteries (also unlikely if they stopped working at the same time). Also try swapping scanners and bases (one scanner from one base and place it with another base) make sure you firmly place the bottom of the scanner in the base to verify there is a good connection with the charging pins. When i try to switch on my Hp compaq dc7100 the power indicator blink red and it beeps 3 times and stop for 2 seconds and then start again help please?

When did this issue begin? IF just a while.. There are some factors why it is happening to your system. 90% could be Hardware failure . You can try this steps for the mean time.. First make sure that the computer is already turn off. Remove any external usb devices connected to the computer. Take out the battery . Unplug the AC adapter . Perform POWER CYCLE it's like your going to drain any flea power on the computer . Now once you take out the battery and unplug the ac adapter or the cable which you plug in the computer to power on the battery. Once your done with that , Press and Hold the Power button for like 30seconds. Then after Plug in the AC adapter again. Then turn on your computer. IF same issue Contact your manufacturer.. For Beep codes and Replacement of parts if the system is still in warranty. Good luck :)

Hi My mac pro does not turn on.

Remove the battery and power cord. Hold down the power button for 3-5 seconds. Replace the battery and power cord, and try it again.
If this doesn't work, take it to the Apple store, as it is likely a hardware issue.

The Western Digital hard drive My Book Elite does not show up on the computer screen when plugged in to the Mac computer. It has the blinking light that shows that it is thinking, and everything else...

i have the same issue, exact same unit MY BOOK ELITE WD 500G ..
FYI: if this doesnt work, it is a power module (inside the black box, MY BOOK ELITE) needs to be replaced.

UNPLUG both cables from MY BOOK ELITE WD - restart your computer

- with respect to the MY BOOK ELITE WD , make sure the power cord is plugged into AC outlet wall only, and the other end of the USB into computer only -- but disconnect both from the MY BOOK WD ELITE and leave unplugged for 20 minutes .

after 20 minutes have elapsed, plug the USB cable only for 1 minute , into MY BOOK ELITE WD. Then plug the power cord into the MY BOOK WD Elite. see if it works

if this doesn't work, let the drive sit for 24-48 hours.. then repeat above instructions -- this is how i got mine to work again. FYI: To avoid this issue, i just leave the unit plugged in , while computer is running

BUT -- be aware... i use UPS (Uninterruptable power supply) to avoid power failures throughout the house. So , i suggest , if you want to leave the computer running, use a power supply to run the computer if the AC power fails..

please issue 4 thumbs up

I connect my Lacie d2 quadra to my mac with firewire 800 and it works fine, but when I connect the same hard disk with esata, it appears on the desktop screen, but the blue light won´t stop...

I have had simular problems with one of these. It can be due to the drive not starting up or shutting down properly or a powers issue.
I woud recomend dissconecting all leads from the back of the hard drive.
Now plug in just the mains power. Now turn the drive on and let it boot up until the light stops flashing. Let it stay constant for a while, now press the power/led button to let it shut down properly on it's own.
Now turn of your mac. with the hard drive still OFF, connect the fire wire to you're mac and HD. Now power up the Mac. If the HD does not power up on it's own, turn it on now.
Hopefully all should be ok now.
If not, try to test it on a PC. It may sound strange, but it can make a difference. Now do all the above again.
Any Luck?
Ok another thing is to try a psu. Hopefully you know someone with a drive you can ask to test their power supply with.. Try all of the above things again? Any joy? if it all workd ok with their power supply and not your's, your mains transformer is bust. It's caused by a capcitor that blows (quite common). If your drive is recent, you may be able to harrass Lacie for a new one, if not I managed to get a Lacie psu from ebay for around £25.00+p&p on ebay.
A final thing to check is what firewire version your mac is against the firwire version of the lacie. Sometimes this can give issues.
Hope this helps.

I have a LaCie d2 Quadra 500 gb. external hard drive. It is just over three years old. Recently, it suddenly stopped working. No light or fan when powered up, and the hard drive does not spin. No longer...

this drive rarely has a power switch issue beside the fact that sometimes it gets misaligned and cannot be properly put in the ON position because of the aluminum casing. If you tried powering on while the backplate is removed and still nothing, look at the soldering of the power switch. If the switch connectors are still all in place, the problem lies more with the power module.
A total lack of power would usually result from the power module being "cooked", so look at traces of burned and cracked chips near the power supply connector on the interface board. If all seems good, make sure the power connector is also correctly soldered.
If the power module is burned, you can replace the interface by buying a used one, but in most cases it is easier and cheaper to buy another enclosure like you did.

Some of the dell desktops have had a power supply issue where the power supply would work sometimes and not other times...these supplies aren't very expensive if you order one from a place like replace the power supply you need to open the case and look at the big square metal box towards the rear of the should have 2-4 screws holding it to the case and it will have the fan attached to it...once you unplug everything and take out the need to look at the specification sticker and see what the wattage for the supply is...when you order a new need to get one of the same wattage or there are several different power supplies available with different may need to call the technical dept. of the place where you are getting the power supply from and see if they will cross reference it to one they have in stock, so you get the right for the monitor deal...most monitors will tell you these things if there is no power coming from the computer..this is normal and serves as a way to let you know that a cable is off or that the computer is malfunctioning

Hello, When I turn on my PC the fan turns a few secs and than stops. I had this on another oc and the problem was the motherboard. Do I need to change the motherboard again or is there somethin gelse...

You did not specified which fan, there is several of them, and usually you do not change motherboard to fix fan, if fan on power supply stop, you need to change power supply, it is cheaper actually to exchange power supply than to replace fan, if this is processor fan, check first if it is plugged correctly to it's socket on motherboard:

1. switch off computer
2. remove power cord from teh back
3. remove side wall of the computer (left hand if you look at it from front)
4. remove processor fan from socket and then re-insert it
5. re-install wall, re-connect powercord and power up the computer
6. if this was just bad connection, you just fixed the problem :-) if this did not solved the problem, you need to purchase new fan suitable for the processor. This is LGA775 Intel processor motherboard, fan for it cost between $15.00 and $80.00 depending on the brand. You do not need to replace heatsink, I would advice replace only fan:
7. follow 1, 2, 3 and 4 then lift side tabs on the fan (over the heatsink, yo umau need little flatbed screwdriver as lever) and slide it out
8. insert new fan in exactly same position till tabs on the side click in
9. re-insert fan power supply to it's socket follow 5 and 6

If this is case fan, this is simple, proceed 1, 2 and 3, then undo screws (philips) holding fan, remove it's cord formteh socket, replace with same size fan, case fans cost from about $2.00 to about $50.00

if this is power supply, you need to purchase adequate power supply, it will cost between $20.00 up to $300.00, in your case $20.00 to $50.00 is fine... Please pay attentnion to rating and do not purchase any with less than 450w, they cost in my shop $27.00, do not bother with brandname!

Follow 1, 2 and 3
4. remove power supply from motherboard sockets, there will be 24pin socket on motherboard, look how it is oriented, replacement will fit only and only one way! remove power supply from fan supply (4 pin on the motherboard),
5. remove power supply from auxilliaries, hard disk drive, cd-rom and if any other, from them as well, do pay attention to orientation of the cables!
5. undo four screws on the back holding the power supply, support it with your hand while reomving.
6. insert new power supply (do pay attention which way it go on the back, yo uhave four screws fitting only in one way) and mount the screws
7. re-connect power to motherboard, wiggle it slightly in, do not break motherboard! same with fan power supply
8. re-connect power to auxilliaries, pay attention to sata connectors, they break easy
9. replace side, re-connect power supply and switch on computer, it should work now

Hope it did solved your problem, please do not forget to rate! This is only reward whcih we have...

Symbol LS 4000i scanner issues

Hello, it looks like the scanner lost the settings. As power is there, so connection is ok. The several (four) beeps after reading the barcode means communication error.
Please try to find the original sheet with configuration barcodes or download it from website, you would need to scan the barcode for IBM PC/AT & IBM Compatibles from Keyboard Wedge Chapter.
