Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

Have you scanned your computer for viruses? Try something like McAfee Stingerhttp://www.mcafee.com/us/downloads/free-tools/how-to-use-stinger.aspx which is free and doesn't need to be installed. Also run an anti-virus scan.

Virus notice keeps popping up and unable to open any programs. i have had downloaded McAfee anitivirus and cannot get it to open

You require Norton AntiVirus from a disc as a clean boot will be required due to the virus "hiding" in the RAM.

My dell desktop computer remains stuck after restart in the loading process. This started to happen after McAfee did a scan and said to restart computer.

Dont worry . it not that the dell has hung during the boot proceedure.
dell has a advanced security feature which incorpaorates delay to booting after every boot failure.
further incomplete boot will add up the time. this is to prevent any mishandling of the device by brute force attack. just let it boot by itself. give it more time. it will boot up fine. dont blame mcafee

Start up gets to "Loading PBR for descriptor 2... done"

I suspect that the viruses had infected some of the files that windows needed to boot up. The moment you ran the Mcafee, the scanning might have deleted or quarantined those files. That is the reason you're having this Loading PBR message because it is now trying to boot from the network and not from the hard drive. You will need to repair windows using the CDs that came with the computer (the Operating system CD/DVD) and run CHKDSK /R at the screen where it says 'repair your computer using the command prompt". If this does not work, chances are, you may need to reinstall windows and everything and that all information in your hard drive will be wiped out.

Generic PUP.x is being detected by my mcafee scan and then i try to remove it and it states it cannot be completely removed

It's a virus that Mcafee can't fix.You can get Spybot search and destroy, and remove it.Just make sure you update and imunize before running.

Computer is very slow.

McAfee virus software is a memory hog. You need to add more memory to your pc. It uses pc3200 memory. This computer has a memory capacity of 4gigabytes. The memory slots are numbered this way......starting from the memory slot closest to the processor>
one, three, two, four. 1 and 2 work together, 3 and 4 work together. So if you buy just 2 gigabytes......put them in 1 and 2. This will help. Sounds like the virus software is doing a full system scan....you could do a "quick"scan and do a "full" scan once a week....

Try starting your computer in safe mode and do a virus scan once in safe mode. While in safe mode Windows only loads the basic devices to run your computer and usually viruses are not loaded untill windows starts in regular mode. Don't panic once you are in safe mode and your screen looks all grainy, this is normal.
  1. Restart your computer and press F8 as soon as you turn it on.
  2. Click the "safe mode with networking" option
  3. Update your antivirus
  4. Do a full system scan
  5. Restart your computer and hope for the best.
If that doesn't work, than reinstall windows.
If you need further assistance, let me know.
Avast is the best free antivirus there is. google it, install it, and enjoy your computer again.Another option is to reinstall windows. If you have the cd that came with the computer than put it in the cd rom and restart your computer and follow onscreen instructions.

There is a reason they are known as AOHell in the computer trade.
I know you have paid for McAfee but you are better off without it, McAfee will be a major drain on your system resources slowing your computer down.
Try and get your money back for McAfee and download the free version of AVG 8.0. This new version of AVG comes with lots of extra security enhancements not just antivirus.
You can download AVG 8.0 free here:

There are plenty of reasons not to install McAfee and if you are interested you can read about them here:

You will need to contact McAfee support either by e-mail or online chat. I find that on-line support gets things resolved faster that a e-mail

Have whatever information about the purchase ready when you contact McAfee support.
