Kenmore and Frigidaire frontload washing machines: Exposed!

Had a customer with a "no spin" situation. Went out and pulled the tech spec sheet. Entered testing and diagnostic mode, Read a code 43. According to the spec sheet this indicates a bad control board. Bought a board and put it in. Still didn't work. Pulled the same code. I went back to my office and did some research and found out that the problem is not the board but it is the door latch assembly and that Kenmore has a glitch in their system that they are trying to "cover up".

Furthermore, Kenmore control boards are made by Electrolux, which is the parent company of "Frigidaire", which uses the very same control board.

Spoke to the engineering departments and public relation departments of "both" companies. Ended up having to tell this story over 20 times to over 20 different people!

They will not refund my money on the board. They will not publish a recall or a notice bullitin. They make more money by selling a board "and" a latch assembly than they do just selling the latch assembly alone! This is the second time in 2 weeks I have dealt with this issue. The first one was a Frigidaire!
There are people buying 2 or 3 boards before finding out about the actual problem. Because they are electronic parts, once they have been installed, they cannot be taken back. At $165 to $195 a pop, Kenmore and Frigidaire are making a forune on this!

Also, ....I am finding that it is happening on machines averaging 2 to 3 years of age, which means the door latch assembly was intentionally designed to outlast the warranty, yet ....no more than 3 years!

It has now become my suspicion that this was an "executive decision!"

Therefore, I hereby proclaim to all of my good customers out there: "Do not buy Kenmore or Frigidaire frontload washers." I will not be selling them in the field anymore, and I am now telling "everybody" to stay away from "both" of them! This is a very devious and unethical practice being perpetrated by "both" of these companies! And, it really makes me angry, .....'cause, ....(lol).......not only was I recomending them to my customers, but, ....I just bought one for "my" own home" as well!

It is my hope that by boycotting them, ......they will lose enough customers to "force" them to "address this issue!" As a veteran in the field, I am "very" dissapointed in the public relations and engineering departments of "both" of these companies and I will now be plastering this statement across the entire net!

I've never been a big fan of Maytag or Amana either, ....so this doesn't leave us with very many options on buying (so called) "American made" front load washing machines. So, .....buyer Beware!

Please "forward" this statement!

(grin) LG ...is looking pretty good right now.

My zanussi washer is coming up with error code 40 anyone no what it is

Family error code E40 is visible to customers and (could be E41,E42,E43,E44 and E45 only visible in service mode) means problem with open door or door interlock.

Error code E40 on a Electrolux Front Loader Washing Machine EWF1090 What does it mean and how can I fix it?

Family error code E40 is visible to customers and (could be E41,E42,E43,E44 and E45 only visible in service mode) means problem with open door or door interlock.
I suggest rapid reading alarm code when appliance is in normal operating mode (e.g. during the execution of the washing
programme):
Press and hold down START/PAUSE and any of the option buttons for at least two seconds: the LEDs initially switch off, and then display the flashing sequence corresponding to the alarm.
The alarm sequence continues as long as the two buttons are held down.
E41 - Door open
E42 - Problems of door closure
E43 - Interlock power supply triac faulty
E44 - Door interlock sensor faulty
E45 - Door interlock sensing circuit triac faulty

Possible causes:
Door interlock faulty, wiring faulty or PCB faulty.

Zanussi washing machine fs1255w green end light flashes 5 times what is this error code

Press START/PAUSE and any one of the option buttons
simultaneously for at least two seconds: the LEDs first switch off,
and then display the flashing sequence corresponding to the
alarm condition.
Examples:
Alarm E43 (problems with the door safety interlock triac) will be displayed as follows:
• four flashes of the END OF CYCLE LED indicate the first digit E43;
• three flashes of the START/PAUSE LED indicate the second digit E43;
So, error code E55 as you specified does not exist. Any how, family error code 5 (first digit) means problem with motor. Error code could be E51,E52,E53 and E54.
Possible causes:
- faulty motor
- motor brushes (very often)
- faulty tachometer (integrated in the motor but is replaceable)
- faulty electronic (Motor power triac short-circuited or motor relay contacts sticking).

E43 code on atf6000eso washer

Thanks for your post, friend!

Based off the error code you were able to provide your Frigidaire washer is providing you're an "E43" error code and that means your control panel needs to be replaced. This is not a simple DIY job and I would highly recommend reaching out to an expert technician to ensure the replacement part is installed correctly to prevent future issues. I hope this information helps to some degree. -Matt

GE Washer Model ## WPSB9220D0WW Data Code31704 Error Code E43 Drive System Excessive Brake Time My washer don't do anything but show this error

On GE Washer Machines, E43 error code means "excessive brake time". The brake and speed sensor will need to be checked. You can try resetting the machine by disconnecting the power for 20-30 minutes. Keep in mind that your right model number is WPRB9220D0WW.

You can eliminate if it's the speed sensor by entering the service model. To do this:
- Turn off the washer at the power pad
- Remove power by unplugging the cord for 15 or more seconds
- Plug back in and within 30 seconds simultaneously press and hold the POWER and START pads for 3 seconds
- Should now display the model codes
- There are a bunch of tests but we are interested in the spin fast portion, so press the custom 2 pad until the display shows SF ( Spin Fast )
- Hit START pad... it should start spinning and display the rpm's

If it does this the speed sensor is working and the problem is the brake which means the transmission has to be replaced. Parts replacement can be find in THIS LINK.

If you do not feel able to resolve it, we recommend you call the technician to do it. Now you know what the problem.

Hope this helps; also keep in mind that your feedback is important and I'll appreciate your time and consideration if you leave some testimonial comment about this answer.

Thank you for using Fixya, and have a nice day.

E43 is for "excessive drive system brake time"

Reset with
1) unplug 3 seconds,

3) cycle thru using the Custom 2 button (3 times) to display E43,
4) hold Power & Start to clear code to E00,
5) stop.

Error code E43 on display of WPRB9220DCC GE Washer

This is the beginning of a leaking seal in the gear box. Some units have a pan to catch the leak from getting to floor. Seal needs to be replaced, otherwise gearbox will fail (lot more $$$$)
