It's quite simple, Quite Simple: manual says packing grounds too tightly/ too fine a grind causes this problem; does your steam wand put out adequate steam? if so, don't pack so tight. of course, the manual is full of lies, so chalk it up to poor workmanship/quality control at factory/bad design/bad business practices a'la lower end breville machine. take yer pick.

Too many variables to answer reliably.
What coffee? How Old? Pre ground or beans? How much coffee? How long does extraction take? Water temperature? Try to narrow the questions to areas.

My Machine Francis X6 has presented the problem of variation in the amount of water - quantity / volume of coffee in the cup when making coffee. Ouvir Ler foneticamenteDicionário - Ver...

If these rules are not heeded, then one will get anything
but a perfect espresso, because:
if the amount of ground coffee is less than 7 grams
an insufficient amount exists for extraction weak and watery
if the grain size distribution is too coarse
neither the solid nor the colloidal parts will be extracted weak and watery
if the ground coffee is not compacted
the colloidal parts will not be extracted weak and watery
if the coffee is too coarsely ground weak, watery, barely aromatic, sour, bitter
considerably less than 25% will be extracted and unpleasant, the aftertaste will not last long
if the water temperature is less than 97 Degrees Celsius
the extraction will be reduced predominantly sour
if the water does not have a minimum pressure of 9 bar
the colloidal particles will not be able to be extracted predominantly bitter
if the water temperature is much above 97 Degrees Celsius
the coffee will become scorched during the extraction bitter and woody, will smell charred

its a science and trial and error to get the right/perfect cup. due to where u live (atmospheric pressure) and temp/humidity. read this for a better understanding

Rancilio Silvia Espresso water flows too quickly about 7 seconds

  1. check the coffe filter>> it could be teard up and leaking(check it carefuly it is hard to see sometimes)
  2. check the pressure you get from group. 7 - 9 bar pressure you should get to handle. if it is biger than check by pas valve and adjust the pressure, also check up boiler security valve(security valve for water for coffee)

Hmm. Better late than never. Just got home with ours. Same problem. Called Cuisinart 800 number. Catch is on top of handle. There is a slight lip on each side there. Pop it up with pressure on both sides simultaneously. To replace, line up lid carefully with top of carafe and press firmly until it pops back on.
