Hi,

To my understanding, white screen (white wash) is a feature of some plasma TVs. its purpose is to illuminate the entire screen so as to even out burn-in effects that is remove minor instances of screen image retention. Constant use of the feature or in your case flickering can decrease the life of the TV as using the white screen/wash stresses the unit and can result in deteriorated image quality.

To your concern, pls check if this feature has been enabled. Additionally, in some versions:

  • service menu, -v on the front panel control and 000 on the remote; or
  • a full factory reset, -v on the front panel control and i button on the remote. This would revert the unit back to factory settings.
Otherwise, you may need to reference a full service manual including the service bulletins. I was made to understand that there were several parts change. Or seek the services of a qualified professional or a Panasonic Service Center.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information. Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

Dry solder joints on the pins of the vertical integrated circuit commonly causes this. Tap each I/C with a plastic screwdriver handle to find the intermittent one. It usually is one with a heat sink attached. hope this helps

The TV is going in protect mode because it detects an internal problem, try leaving it unplugged for a longer time, let say one hour or two.
Basically, what happens is that the TV does not start because it detects that there is an internal problem, such as a wrong voltage, a bad component, overheating etc.
When you unplug power and restart it, you reset the internal circuit, and the TV will restart, not detecting the internal problem.
As soon as the TV gets hot, after staying on for a while, the defective part start giving troubles, as the defective component (probably an IC, starts overheating).

The Digital Processing Board can be cause for the problem.
However all the following parts can be involved.

Parts involved can be

Digital Processing Board
Replacement Ballast
LCD Controller

Time to get the TV repaired. You can go to the following website for detail Parts List.

Thanks

Sounds like you have an intermitant overdrive situation on the red CRT. This could be caused by a bad component on the Red CRT board, an intermittantly shorting CRT or the circuitry in the main board. You should not run it until the problem is resolved as you could damage the CRT if it is not already bad. This is something that unless you are a qualified tech you are not going to have any success resolving. It should not be very hard for a good tech to diagnose the problem. Costs will depend on the part which is bad. If it is the red CRT it probably is not worth fixing, but it could be a 50 cent capacitor. Certainly worth the cost of a service call. Good luck.

    Thanks

Sound like a possible issue on the logic board of the display panel, this is repairable but it may cause you. BTW, have you had this unit serviced previously? how many hours do you have on it?

the tuner board of your unit is almost with the logic board, having the part checked if the plasma has burnt out will be the key to your issue...

Possibly a loose solder or cold solder connection somewhere, or maybe a bad cap near the vertical IC, but if you can't find it, you'll want to contact a technician.

  • fixexpert Nov 05, 2008

this can also be caused due to overheating of any components on the main board.

or the loose jack where the power cord of your tv is connected internally.

    check out this.

  • fixexpert Nov 05, 2008

check out the fittings on the tuner board let it be new,but if the fitting is not proper this problem could happen as the sound gets cracked there is a false effect on the picture quality.

    thanks.

In such cases, we have to ensure that it is not the input device that is causing this problem. So, please switch your input device to something you are sure, works. If you notice same problem, look for loose contacts in inter connecting cables and jacks. If problem persists, please refer it to a qualified service technician.

How to remove back picture flickers then goes

Hi ignafam,

Sorry for the late reply, I'm offline upon purchasing my service.

I have some question so that I can give you an accurate solution regarding on your problem.
1. Exact model no. of your unit - this is located on the back cover, manual, or on the receipt.
2. Does the unit has sound, before it goes blank?
3. Does the unit goes black or white screen?
4. Does the symptoms remain the same in all inputs(when watching TV, DVD, game console, etc)?

Three guns Red Blue and Green in the picture tube of an old CRT set. If one of the guns goes out it effects that color. Sounds like one of the guns inside of the tube is going out, To costly to replace for such an old antilog set that will have to have a convertor box next month anyway.
