Windows does not recognize USB connection to the SpeedStream 6520- malfanctioning
When i plug in the usb connector from the SpeedStream Modem into my laptop my laptop recognizes the modem and asks for the driver- everything is as usual, normal installation of the new device thing, but when i plug the usb connector into my desktop, windows finds an Unknown Devise and then when i press at the little window that appears in the bottom right corner saying that "USB device NOT Recognized, One of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfanctioned, and Windows does not recognize it. For assistance in solving this problem, click this message." then i click on it- little window opens up, whowing me location of the UNKNOWN DEVICE in bold- usb Root Hub (3 ports) and then one of them is HID-compliant mouse, one is unused Port, and the bold one is the Unknown Device. at the bottom there is a recomendation- Try reconecting the device. If windows still does not recognize it, replace the device.
Well the device works. Laptop uses it. The usb ports work- all of them, tested using memory sticks and a mouse... Wierd, eh?
Can anyone help me? Any suggestions? cuz i cannot install that thing, cannot update the driver in the driver signing window... i ran out of ideas.

Try using Ethernet. That is always the recommended way to connect to the modem, and it works almost 100% of the time without having to install additional software or perform any additional configuration. If you must use USB for some reason then you will need to make sure you have the drivers installed properly before connecting the modem to your computer.
I am afraid that there are incompatibilities between speedstream 6520 and Voip service. I will need to look at this a little bit further but I think the only workaround is a firmware update. (modified version of the original)
Not compatible or not working well with windows 7?
(making a program work with windows 7)
Maybe, It doesn't work because the driver/application you installed is
for other versions of operating system. I am also using windows 7 like
you so don't you worry, You can still use your old installer/driver from
other versions of operating systems. Just remember that before
installing any program in a windows 7 Operating System Computer, Use
"troubleshoot compatibility". Right Click the Icon of your program
installer/application first, then choose "troubleshoot compatibility". This will
allow you to choose on what type operating system your program will run.
Just reply back if it still doesn't work.:D rate and vote for me:))
Windows doesn't detect Ethernet connected devices. You could hook up a dozen Ethernet Modems and Windows would not see any of them, but they all would work fine using TCP/IP. It is not like you installed the DSL Modem/Router inside the case of the PC. You do know how Ethernet works, right? The only driver needed is the correct one for your Ethernet card, but that comes the Ethernet Card or the Motherboard Drivers CD for onboard Ethernet.
Found a few things, here are some websites to try:
um not sure, but if you have the disk that came with your router run it and fill in the wireless wizard. Also, on my 6520 the "wireless" led doesnt light up unless i have a device connected that is wireless. Your laptop may be incorrectly setup
re 6520 seimens wireless modem
i have DSL internet connection
when the phone call dies i hang up the phone and call again for the same amount of time 3mins and 18 secs
i am using the seimens modem/router with the voip adapter connected via ethernet cable
i have updated the seimens modem/router with the latest firmware from the telstra site E752-AF5-106-71-a056-v1s
Download the manual from the link and review page 7 for ethernet connection.
Notice particularly the back of the device. There are four connection points to plug things in the one on the left with DSL is where cable with the phone connectors connects the phone jack to the speedstream 5200. On the right the round connector with the pin is where the power goes. Next to the power connector to the left is a USB connector. In between usb connector and the DSL port is an ethernet connector. One way to avoid the need for the USB software os to use the ethernet connector bu connecting an ethenet cable (wider connector that fits snugly in both ports one on the Speadstream 5200 and the other probably present on your computer.
