Question about Sony KP-46WT510 46" Rear Projection HDTV

1 Answer

Won,t turn on.

KP 46WT 510. Replaced convergence IC's. Upgraded from STK 392-560 to STK 392-570. When I turn it on sound comes on, no picture then off in a few seconds and timer/stanby light flashes in sequence of four. Only problem before was convergence. Suggestions?

    How can I locate the vertical deflection circuit? Do you think changing the convergence IC and putting the board back may have caused this problem?

  • Dave Nov 05, 2008

    rechecked all connections. Inspected solder joints with 20X magnifier, resoldered two suspicious joints and cleaned up solder residue somebody else had left. It works! Thanks for guidance!

    I would re check my solder work , and also make sure that any components that do heat up , that thier solder is not dry looking and resolder any that do , also check resistors for low values , and re check all work ,also be carefull of bending the board while pulling out and putting in as this can cause a solder connection to crack

    also check d board for 15v supplied , ic suspected

    glad you got it going! if you need any other assistance just ask!

PICTURE IS BOWED AND COLORS DO NOT LINE UP

Try adjusting the convergence. If it won't move see below- (or hitting Magic Focus for some Hitachi’s)

This sounds like convergence output IC problem. convergence board would have to be removed - remove and replace 2 STK IC's and check the surrounding resistors. Shops usually charge between $200-$400 Be sure to vote/rate me if this helped Thanks!

You have a convergence problem;

Just click below for convergence repair kit;

http://servicemanuals.vstore.ca/

Blue wave coming up frpm the bottom of the screen on the lower left symptom is for busted convergence IC,you must replaced this IC in order that will works better again.STK 392-xxx ICs and it's associated resistor,this resistor automatically change value,can caused truoble even though you change the ICs.If you bring this to a service center they cost you $600 to $700,but if you buy the repair kit you can save more,don't wory it is very easy because there is intallation guide including in the repair kit. Feel free to ask whatever the result... click the link for sample picture guide step by step installation;

Convergence problem

you will need to replace the stk ic's they are mounted to 2 large heat sinks in side the tv. the ic numbers are on the chips themselves. i do believe it is stk392-510 for sony. once you have the number you can buy these anywhere online. just put new ones in and should be good to go. if this doesnt work then there are a few resistors and fuses by the ic's that sometimes fail.
