    Are circuit diagrams available?

  • morriskurman Dec 28, 2008

Your suggestion is the best one that has been suggested. However there are many questions,

Do you do it? What is the cost? Shipping becomes a big part of cost. Will the rieceivers receive the signal from the transmitter

I purchase the Wsp 150 from E-BAy when the price is right. So far i have a few . I have been lucky, as a few of them work. Never a problem with transmitter. My wife and I are both a little hard of hearing, so they do serve a purpose.

Thanks again If you have more info ,please inform me.

Most of this newer stuff is disposable. Chances are, most of the sound circuits are on a single processor chip with a cryptic house number instead of the actual part number. A shop would charge more than the cost of a new system, and you probably couldn't get the parts to repair them yourself. If you're really attached to the system, your best bet is to replace the entire amplifier section with a new generic module, and rewire as needed. Parts Express and MCM Electronics probably have suitable amp modules.

Unfortunately, my specialty is Classic Car radios (very old stuff) and high-end Avionics (my day job, and cutting-edge technology). Your system falls into my "not really sure" window between the old and the new. It can certainly be done, but you're better off buying an entire new system in my opinion. The amplifier substitution trick is something I might try if I found the system for free somewhere, but not a job I would want to take in, as it may require much time spent experimenting. Thanks just the same for considering me to repair it.

My TV does not have audio output. will this system still work on my TV?

An audio output may be available if your TV is connected to a TV service provider box. . If you use a box than check to see if there is an audio output available. This will by-pass the TV.

Last resort there is probably a 2.5 mm connection for headsets some where on your TV. You can use a 2.5 mm to White and Red RCA connector cable to connect TV to stereo

This would be a simple stereo connection with out surround..

I have the tss450 series. My subwoofer pulses when plugged into the wall. What might cause this?

Just apply the excellent solution of "dskum" that I am reproducing here:

I had the same sub and I started hunting down the problem by disabling \'sectional\' parts of the circuit to find out whats causing the problem. The problem was narrowed down to the small \'limiter\' circuit which is soldered vertically on the Pre-Amp. (The wire from power amp connects to it)

As far me, the limiter circuit doesn\'t add much value, if you are careful enough not to push the subwoofer to its peak limits. There is a 7 wire bus which connects the Pre-Amp (top board) to the power amplifier (bottom board). In that 6 wires are just direct connection from pre-to- power amp board. The pre-amp output goes through the limiter. (1st black wire).

To remove the limiter from circuit just physically remove the limiter board by de-soldering the 7 pins through which its connected to pre-amp. Also you may\'ve to clean up the glue around to easily remove it. Disconnect the 7 wire connector from the limiter and solder it directly to the pre-amp board. (Only 6 black wires need to be connected.) Check the picture. Also as part of experiment I replaced the power filter capacitors with slightly bigger capacity. (But its not necessary - the glue on the old capacitors made it look like it was bulged - but its not).

The white wire (limiter feedback) is not necessary and that can be disconnected or cut off for good. All the popup/crackling/thumping it was making is gone and the sub is working great again. (Yes it was doing so even without any inputs).

While de-soldering make sure don\'t apply too much heat. The boards are pretty weak and you might easily damage the solder pads.

Whil Also don\'t use any kind of diode or mess with it the limiter circuit. Just removing the limiter circuit makes it good. If you use diode to directly connect the pre-amp line to power line as suggested earlier you might be damaging it more than its currently since you are almost connecting to the 42 v rails to it. Also if you google you would come across the service manual if you are interested in the circuit diagram.

Red light and thumping sound, same as earlier report on a infinity tss 450

If your talking about the thump thump sound thru the sub when in standby mode, here's a fix if your good with a small soldering iron. Remove the amp from the sub. Locate U301 on the limit curcuit. (the small circuit card standing up right) Replace U301 with a TL074IN ( part #248-0012) .35cents +S/H also remove R263 from the preamp board, add a new 1N4148 diode(#935-0242) .05 cents to the pre amp board. Connect the Anode of the new diode to the Anode of D101 and the Cathode of the new diode to the Cathode of D108. Replace amp and test. Thump thump should be gone.

Mackie SWA1501 Base Bin - Circuit Boards burnt.

They are not publicly available. Mackie authorized service centers are the only places that will have that information. The amp (if it has failed) requires a bit of skill to rebuild, and up to 100$ in parts alone. (not including the speaker driver if it's blown). I have repaired several of these in the past, and they aren't that simple. There is also a service bulletin about 2 diodes that usually need to be swapped with one another because of a defect during manufacture (the parts were installed incorrectly). (One is D20) if you rebuild the amp, and fail to address the diodes, it will fail again very shortly.

How to make a 15 pin female sound in cable

Ya, here is a diagram I made of my Acoustimass 10 IV input cable. All you need is a female 15-pin d-type connector and a bunch of speaker cable (also one RCA connector for sub connection). Here's my diagram:

Bloon Fuses!

You don't need schematics to replace the fuses.
Open the speaker unit by unscrewing the back. The fuses are located near the on/off switch assembly. Replace them and screw the the unit back together.
To avoid blown fuses, try lowering the volume.

Sub thumps repeatedly

since it still thumps i suspect the speaker is ok, but i suspect you have an electronic problem in the amp. since it is a powered sup & has the ability to auto turn on it has electronic circuits inside, take it to a service center for an estimate
