Question about Medion md40298 Notebook
My Medion Laptop (about 3-4 years old) has stopped recognizing the CD/DVD drive. The icon does not appear when a disc is in place. The drive opens/closes and when a disc is inserted it 'appears' to be reading as you can hear it 'whirring' and the light flashes. Once this stops, that's it...nothing. When trying to copy files onto a disc it does nothing. When trying to play a CD or DVD, once again nothing.
I've had a look in the device management files and noticed that there is an exclamation mark in yellow over the type of driver. The driver is a Matshita DVD-RAM UJ-8315. In properties is has a remark that says it "cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing (code 39). I've tried to do a troubleshoot, but it didn't help.
Any ideas or solutions to this. I have no idea when this problem happened as I haven't had to use the cd drive for quite a while.
Thanks so much for any help
the yellow exclamation mark, states that the device is not functioning correctly.
1:) go to the manufacturers website, and see if you can download a driver for this.
2:) try uninstalling the device, reboot and see if the device manager, finds new hardware, if so reinstall the device drivers.
3:) eject or remove the device, re-insert ( possible dirty-bad-loose Connection.
