Question about Philips SA2310 GoGear Mp3 Player

Open Question

Philips mp3 player gogear 1gb sa4111/37 ms-dos (fat16 format)

I have 2 problems. The first one is that when I try to put songs on it, every now and then it says there is not enough free space. The reason it doesn't make sense is because there is well over 50 MB of free space of memory left. How do I make it so I can use all the memory I need? The second problem is the MP3 player has over 200 songs, but when I go to delete the songs I don't like , they aren't listed. Only the songs I really want are listed, about 120 songs. How do I get a full list of all the songs and recordings that are on my MP3 player, so I can delete the songs and recordings that I don't want on there? My computer is a Mac OS X 10.5.5. How can I fix my problems?

SOURCE: SA4111 1GB gogear

I am not familliar with the SA4111, but it seems to be identical to the SA11XX series.

These players do not need Synching.

Try dragging and dropping your tracks on to the player with Windows Explorer or My Computer.

The sticker on the back with the serial number may have been removed. Hopefully you still have the warranty/registration card or the box. If none of the above, you are out of luck.

File Format Not Supported

The songs may have been WMA's with a fixed term license. The license is now expired. They will need to be reacquired.

If you are certain that your songs are in mp3 format instead of WMA format, then your DB is corrupt, and you will need to run a Repair in the program called Philips Device Manager.

Problem in data transfer

Make sure the hold/lock switch wasn't accidentally activated
Use Windows Media Player to transfer songs
If the songs you are trying to transfer are in the wrong format (iTunes, for instance), they will still not transfer.
If you use songs that are only in mp3 format, then they should transfer fine using Windows Media Player.

How to format philips gogear mp3 player?

I wouldn't format it. If you are having problems, run a Repair in Philips Device Manager. If you are getting format errors, then the songs you are trying to load are not compatible with the player - if you download songs that are in true mp3 format, then you will not get any format errors.

My philps gogear audio player

The songs that you are attempting to put on the Go Gear have a non-supported license type. They are either iTunes format or DRM-protected WMA's that are not compatible with the GoGear. Acquire songs that are in Mp3 format, and you will not have this problem.

There are a few possible answers:
1)Start simple - disconnect the GoGear from the computer - let it update - then reconnect it to the computer; if this fails, restart your computer and try syncing again

2)You need a firmware upgrade to make the device compatible with your computer: just open up Philips Device Manager (Start --> All Programs --> Philips) - if you don't see it, then re-run the installation CD or grab the "Device/Firmware Manager" from the Philips website; click on the update tab

3) The songs have Digital Rights Management (DRM) protection.Try re-downloading the songs without DRM protection.

4) The songs are in a format not recognized by the GoGear. The GoGear, for instance, will not take iTunes files b/c they are AAC format. With MP3 files, the player supports 32 –320kbps. With WMA: 5-192kbps with sampling rate 8.0kHz up to 44.1kHz. Right click the song file, and select "Save As", and then change the format of the song file. Or, redonwload, in the above-said format.

Instruction manual can be found by entering your model number at www.usasupport.philips.com

The device itself is not faulty. This is Microsoft's1.gif fault, not Philips'. Some of the songs may have Digital Rights Management (DRM) encoding that the SA6025 will not support. You can right click on the trouble music file, select "Properties," and select the License or Digital Right tab - look for the msg: This file is not copyright protected. Find out if the songs that CAN'T be transferred have this message. If so, then click on acquire digital rights (or some variant of that phrase). If the files tha CAN'T be transferred DO have Digital rights protection, then you must save the files in a different format that is stripped of DRM encryption.

Philips Gogear 1GB - File format not supported

There are a few different possibilities.

1)Your subscription to your digital music service such as Napster, etc has expired. Sorry - unless you renew your subscription, you will not be able to play these songs again.
2) Your songs have DRM-encryption on them. To check and see, right click on an individual song name in Windows Media Player, and click on "License" or "Digital Rights"; if the affected songs have DRM encryption, then get DRM-removal software.
3) Your songs do NOT have DRM-encryption on them. In this instance, follow the procedure for item#2, except click on the link in the License or digital Rights tab that says "acquire license" (make sure you are connected to the internet first).
