Question about Printers & Copiers

3 Answers

I have a C4180 HP Printer. It needed black ink. I installed the ink, and afterwards it acts as though it is not receiving any electricity. There is a light to the left of the OK switch. That little light keeps blinking. Can you help me?

I thank you so much. It was certainly worth 9.99 and then some to get this printer fixed. You taught
    me something.

First remove both the cartridges from the printer.then off the printer.remove the power cord of the printer from the electric outlet.remove all the connections between printer and computer.then wait for 5 minutes.then without connecting any communication between printer and computer.just ON the printer by connecting the printer power cord.but not in the power outlet where you regularly plug.somewhere else except that power outlet.then before inserting the cartridges just clean the brown colour dotted cicuit of the cartridges as well as the printer.your printer also has the same brown colour dotted circuit where u install the cartridges.clean it with moist tissue and then insert the cartridge.it should work properly without showing any error.then OFF the printer again and connect the communication wire between the printer and computer .and ON the printer.

rate the solution if it helps you.
feel free for further assistance.
thanks.

Basic troubleshooting for this model is shown here:

My first suggestion, is to remove the ink cartridges, and power on the printer and see if there is any message about missing cartridges. If so, then re-install the cartridges, see if the issue changes.

Hp c4180 photo smart "color ink inproper install"

If the ink is a refill by you the printer will not recognize. If new replacement cartridges, it should be ok. After ink change, do a clean and allignment for clearer result.

Question: I have an HP C4180 all-in-one printer. Are the black ink HP cartridges 92 and 98 interchangeable? Can I use both of them in this printer?

According to this site: https://h30042.www3.hp.com/SureSupply/#2, the hp site for buying printer accessories, it appears that the 92 is not compatible with the C4180. Type the part number into the search box, and you will see a list of various cartridges you can buy for this particular machine. 92 is not in that list.

New Cartridges - not all color ink printing!

It sounds that the ink inside the cartridge has partly dried up.

This can happen to my printer when I don't use it for a couple of months too.

Hope this helps!

My refilled ink cartridge still displays empty and will not print

The ink cartridge is most likely chipped & you would not be able to reset the ink level. Purchase an original or a good compatible cartridge. Refiling newer cartridges is not a good idea.

Printer keeps trying to perform an alignment after installing a new black ink cartridge fix:

1. Unplug USB
2. Turn printer off
3. Wait 10 seconds
4. Remove paper from paper tray so printer has no paper to print on
5. Turn printer on
6. Printer messages to insert paper in paper tray
7. Press and hold “Setup” and “ Cancel” buttons and press “OK”
8. Should be good until next black ink cartridge change.
