Question about Printers & Copiers

1 Answer

Printer paper doesn't feed properly. The mechanism that grabs it keeps causing jams preventing the paper from ever entering the printer.

Its is trick..If its more then two pages print, printer grabs second page even first page in duplex unit., here its confusion. Check with simplex single print, see any paper mismatch error? or printer throwing paper in output bin after successful print?. No.. check fuser out sensor or paper out roller.
Print only two pages matter in duplex, check where paper struck? if paper our roller not grabbing paper back properly in time (slipping while grabbing back) gets jam error.
Always ensure that select proper paper size in printer.Other than this it may major issue, need technical knowledge..& possibilities are less to judge the exact problem..
Keep update us to resolve the issue.

Error paper jam

Hello Cassandra,
It sounds like you are having phantom paper jams. When the printer starts a print job and tries to pull a piece of paper but can't grab it the printer thinks there is a jam but there really is not. If the paper pickup rollers are worn down they are not able to grab the paper correctly to feed it into the printer which causes this type of error. The rollers are considered user installable and come in a kit with the rollers and the paper separation pad which keeps more than one paper from being pickup up at the same time. Installing the paper feed kit should clear up your paper feed problems. The paper feed kit is available here: http://www.ccl-la.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=342
I hope this helps.

Xante platemaker II paper jam error

Sometimes the sensor which detects paper jams gets knocked out of position during moves. NEVER move a printer while it is on. Don't even slide it around on your desk a little bit. If this is the case, your printer needs a replacement sensor which likely requires a professional to install. It would probably be cheaper to buy a new one anyways.

You can try the following to correct the issue:
1.Get a can of compressed air. As per the directions on the can, dust anything you can get at within the printer without moving or touching the internal mechanisms. It is possible that dust or smoke has gotten onto the sensor and is causing false paper jams.

2.open the rear access panel of the machine. You will see black rollers. With a slightly damp cloth (no paper towels) gently wipe at the rollers. Dirty rollers will not grab the paper properly and this may be confusing the mechanism.

Paper won't feed properly and jams. the paper starts to feed then twists and jams.

There are a couple of possibilities. First is a little piece of paper could be stuck somewhere along the paper path and is causing one of the feed rollers to not grab the paper evenly, which will make the page twist on most of the models in this series, if you pull the paper out and take a flashlight and look up the feed path you will usually see anything in the feed path near/on the rollers at the top.
Another possibility is one of the feed rollers is old and worn out (If machine gets heavy use) and it will cause same issue.
Also light paper stock can sometimes be too thin for the rollers to grab properly and cause it to twist and slide around. This is usually more of an issue with gravity/drop feed printers but can also occur on front feed style too. Usually 20lb stock is good, but if thats doing it, you can try going to a 24lb.

It grabs the paper crookedly and causes it to

If you have previously had a paper jam, and it tore the paper, there could be a very tiny piece of paper stuck in the feed on the side...it only takes something very tiny to prevent the paper from feeding correctly...a child dropping a little piece of food, it could be anything...but I'd be about 90% sure that it's there. I found one once and it was so small it took forever to find it, and it was even harder to get out...you kind of have to work at it with some Q-tips, eyebrow tweezers2_bing.gif, a paperclip, something that you can go in and attempt to clear the feed. If you dont/can't find it you may have to take it apart, and that's not fun, and runs the risk of it "never" aligning correctly...so be persistant.

FYI...I had another guy with the very same post today, and gave him the same suggestion...he found a pen cap in the back of his printer, LOL...so get a flashlite, some very small tools, and have a look-see.

Paper jamming in printer. Pulling one side before the other causing it to jam... Brand new, bought Sunday

Answer:
Fixing a printer paper jam
When working with any printer it's inevitable that you'll encounter a paper jam. Below are the steps you'll want to follow when this occurs.
1.Turn off the printer.
2.Inspect the location or tray the printed paper ejects to. If the stuck paper is visible manually remove it.*
3.Remove all paper trays and any paper that may be stuck between the tray and the printer. If the stuck paper is visible manually remove it.*
4.Open the printer door that allows you access to the printer ink cartridges or toner and look for any stuck paper. If the stuck paper is visible manually remove it.*
5.Turn the printer back on. If you continue to receive a printer jam error try repeating the above steps again. If issue still persist and you see no paper that is stuck in the printer it's likely your printer is experiencing another hardware issue and we suggest contacting the printer manufacturer for additional assistance and/or repair.
* To manually remove paper pull on the paper with both hands being careful not to tear the paper while pulling it. If you're unable to get to an edge of the paper that allows you to pull it you may need to manually rotate the gears that feed the paper through the printer.
Preventing a printer paper jam
As mentioned earlier it is inevitable that you will encounter at least one paper jam during the life of your printer. However, if you're encountering frequent paper jams following the below steps can help prevent paper jams from occurring.
•If your printer has a paper tray do not fill the tray to capacity. If you're encountering frequent paper jams reduce the amount of paper you place in the tray each time it is filled.
•Make sure you or the tray feeding the paper into the printer is aligned properly and/or the slider used to hold the paper in place in the tray is snug with the paper. Many printers have sliders that allow different types and sizes of paper to be fed into the printer. If the slider is not properly positioned it can cause paper jams.
•Use standard office paper; folded paper, paper with labels, and specialty paper such as hard bound paper can often cause paper jams. If you're uncertain with what type of paper you should use with your printer your printer documentation will list the types of paper compatible with your printer.
•Do not mix the types of paper you're feeding into the printer at one time. If you need to change the type of paper or size of paper being used removed any other paper currently in the printer before inserting the new paper.
•Examine the printer for any previous stuck paper in the printer. Previous paper jams, torn paper, printing labels or other foreign objects in the printer can cause reoccurring printer jams.

Paper will not go thru printer why ?

Printers usually jam or block paper for the following reasons:
There is a small piece of paper somewhere that is stuck.
The rollers are worn out and are too smooth to grab the paper.
There is something mechanically blocking the paper path, pencils, paperclips, etc.
Paper is wet (high humidity areas can cause this.
Paper is too thick, is being re-used or has bent edges.
Paper guides are set too far apart and the paper enters at an angle.
Broken parts. Usually caused by someone forcefully removing a paper jam.
If you have tried all of the above let us know and we can go from there.
