No picture When i turn on my monitor the picture flashes on for half a second and then the screen immediately dims down to virtually no brightness. You have to look very closely to even see that it is on.

My nephew's Flat Panel LCD Monitor has the same problem :( .... Other than reconnecting the monitor to make sure all the connections are sound, I do not know what other steps to take.

Our monitor does that too. The second we turn it on, it stays on for a split second and then turns off. Turning the monitor on and off sometimes fixes the problem, but only temporarily. how to fix it? please help

Below are instructions to adjust brightness on HP laptop

    • Press the "Fn" key with the computer turned on and hold the key.

    • Press the "F7" or "F8" key on some HP laptops, which are printed with a small sun icon on the key. The sun icon is filled on the function key for dimming the laptop. The other key is printed with a hollow sun icon for brightening the screen.

Diagnosing a LCD blank screen problem.

Recently a 3 year old VIzio TV I bought started having problems. The set would turn on normally for a few seconds then the picture would go dark with everything else operating normally including sound. Remembering a similar laptop computer problem I diagnosed previously, I immediately suspected a defective TV screen backlight. To verify this in your own TV, get a very bright flashlight and with the TV operating in the failed blank screen mode, shine the flash light into the blank screen from various angles and distance (including touching the screen). If the LCD is still operating, you'll see a dim motion in the flashlight's reflection, thus proving it is indeed a failed backlight.

I have a bravo 10.4 montitor

if it's still under warranty, rma it. the website for your product manufacturer is
I can't say for sure if it is worth repairing or not, it sounds like either the backlight tube or inverter is going out, if it is not under warranty you can disassemble it and locate the backlight inverter then do a search for the part number. unfortunately without the inverter part number i can't give you an idea of the repair price.

the most common problems i have seen with these units are broken or loose ribbon between monitor and processor, blown backlight ccf (black screen, but can see display using a flashlight), inverter or ccfl dying (dim picture, blotchy brightness, flickering brightness)

hope this helps
