Might be a firewall setting in your router. See if you can change the SIP ALG setting. If it is off, you need to turn it on.

Here is a site that will help you identify the SIP ALG in your router:

I have the GXV-3000 IP Video phone, there is a RJ11 jack on the back. How do I use the interface? Connect to my phone line from ATT or connect to a regular phone (as an extention?)? Thanks.

A copy of the user manual for your IP phone is found here: http://www.grandstream.com/user_manuals/GXV3000_User_Manual.pdf

I have browsed through and found no mention of an RJ-11 port on the back, only two RJ-45 Network ports, one for connecting to a PC in switch mode and one for ethernet mode.

If your phone is different and DOES have an RJ-11 port (as some IP phones do), I can only assume it is to connect to a landline to offer landline services as well as IP services.

Under those circumstances of course DO NOT attempt to plug in your landline RJ-11 into an RJ-45, it will not work and you risk shorting something out.

Call forward will not turn off, have tried *74 & *73 , have rebooted and turned off then on, call divert symbol still on and phone calls still diverted.

To set Unconditional Call Forward ON Dial "*72" for a dial tone. Dial the forwarding number followed by "#". Wait for dial tone. LCD will display "Call FWD Activated"
To Cancel Unconditional Call Forward: dial "*73" and get the dial tone, then hang up. LCD will display "Call FWD Activated

but, since you have tried those two, it could be that there might still be a different type of call forward option that is still ON, on your phone like Busy Call Forward and Delayed Call Forward 1. To Cancel Busy Call Forward: dial "*91". Wait for dial tone. Hang up.
2.To Cancel Delayed Call Forward: Dial "*93" for a dial tone, then hang up.

Let me provide you a link to the website which I used as a reference for your future reference.

Does the system has music on hold and sip trunk

I guess you're new to this. The phone may have music on hold, it depends on the model but is generally something you have when using a pbx.
No phone has a sip trunk, that is what you connect to with your voip provider. You need to setup a sip account with a voip supplier and program your phone with the settings provided by them.

My handy tone-486 box keeps flashing red every 3 seconds and I have no dial tone. My internet works and I have power and a working phone line to the box. Help.

Lifted this straight from the manual:

Button flashes every 4 seconds
(if SIP server is configured)
HT–486 fails to register

So basicly, that means your HandyTone 486 ATA fails to register with the SIP-server. That means you either have not recieved your IP-tele yet, or that your ISP have failed to register you.
