Just for verification, Does it print for a time after a cleaning? Also, did you clean the heads themselves inside the printer?

Clean and make sure to put it back exactly as you got it, incase you are like me sometimes, i take pictures before i remove an object, so that way i can go back and look at the picture to make sure i get it back in right

that was going to be my last suggestions actually to the problem. Because I have not owned very many lexmarks, i dont know of all the exact intristic issues that can happen. I have owned a few, but never had quite the problem that you had. Have a great day.

Put brand new lexmark 28 cartridge just 4 days ago. Maybe used 10 times. Computer says ink is low and won't print anymore. However, can still make copies.

It could be just a slight communication failure between your cartridges and the printer. Try to re-seat the cartridges by removing and re-inserting them into the cartridge carrier.
I hope this helps.

I replaced the black ink cartridge yesterday and it seemed to print fine. Today it is not dispensing any ink. (I also just replaced the print head a few weeks ago.)

You may have been impacted from a printhead issue affecting a limited number of our devices. Please visit the Lexmark support page to determine if your printer is affected with the printhead issue. You will be asked to enter your model and serial number. Also, make sure your printer is updated. The firmware update will help give you a highly reliable print system.

Click here to validate your serial number and/or update your firmware.

How do i clean the heads on my lexmark x4580 printer the black is not printing but the colour is ok and the cartridge is full of ink cheers

  • Hello,

  • Most likely this is a print head issue. The print head is what the cartridges sit in inside of the printer. To attempt to resolve it, do the following:

  • (1) Open the printer and wait for the carriage to slide over
  • (2) Remove the ink cartridges from the print head.
  • (3) Use cotton swabs dipped in hot water or a mix of hot water and isopropyl alcohol to thoroughly clean the print head and the electronic contacts on each ink cartridge.
  • (4) Repeat this until there is no ink residue coming off on the cotton swab.
  • (5) Once finished, allow to dry and replace the cartridges
  • (6) Try to print something now

  • If that does not work then you have one of two possibilities:
  • (1) One of the ink cartridges is defective and causing the error
  • (2) If it's definitely not that, then the print head will need to be replaced.

  • Thanks

My ESP 7 printer will not accept that a new black ink cartridge has been inserted. I've tried 2 new ones, same with both.

Black ink cartridge is not recognized. I installed a new cartridge last week and had no problems printing till 2 days ago. What can I do to resolve this?

Printer quit!

You need to try to flush the print heads once or twice, then test print again.
  1. Go to Start > Control Panel, and go to Printers (or similar)
  2. Find your printer in there, right-click it and choose Properties
  3. You may now have to look for Printer Preferences or similar and go to it
  4. You'll now have to look for some sort of Lexmark control panel where it will have options to do a head clean. Do that. Sorry you'll have to look for it because it varies across systems.
If that doesn't help, go to Start > Programs, and look for Lexmark and see if there's some sort of control panel or diagnostics program in there.
Hope this helps!

Printer Always Indicates Ink is Low or Cartridge is Incorrect

To get rid of the low ink warnings google the specific error message with 'ink refill' and look for 'engineers reset' or similar ..

NB. Dell printers (re-badged Lexmarks) are notorious for ink usage and high costs .. so my best recommendation would be to throw it away and purchase something else ..
