BG II for Mac crashing

Ugh, the game doesn't seem to work. I have a fairly new MacBook (2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo). I install the version for Mac OS X, then my computer restarts. I open up the BGII folder, click on the thing I installed, it starts up for about 15 seconds... and then it says it quit. Nothing even shows up from the game really. It just says it quit. Anyone got any idea what it could be and how to fix it?

I recently installed Baldurs Gate 2: Shadows of Amn & it's expansion Throne of Bhaal.  I downloaded the patch, which replaced 2 things in the folder.  When I double click the icon to play Baldur's Gate 2, I get this message:

An Assertion failed in ChDimm.cpp at line number 666
Programer says: Unable to Open BIF:data:MISSound.bif

How can this problem be fixed?

CAN I UPGRADE TO MAVERICKS ON APPLE MACBOOK 2007 LAPTOP

Yes anything with a core 2 duo should work. The only requirement that I'm aware of is 64bit processor and Core 2 Duo is just that. Now if it was a Core Duo (or Core Solo) this would not work.

Sims 3 wont install onto my powerbook G4

Sims 3 will not run on a mac that isn't using an Intel based processor. You will have to upgrade from a Power-PC processor in order to use the latest version of sims.

My safari crashes on my laptop after about 10 seconds. I've tried several times. I've also tried to download again. I have a Macbook Pro, OS version 10.5.8, Processor 2.4 GHz, Intel Core 2 Duo,...

The first thing you should try is resetting the PRAM, this can be done by following this guide.

Then use the Finder to view your User/Library/Cookies/ folder, and drag the Cookies.plist file to the trash. now try Safari again.

If that cures the problem, then we know the cookies file was the reason.

Unfortunately you may lose various website settings and passwords, that were stored in the cookies.

If the problem still persists after this I would try calling apple support.

Macbook wont run limewire

Depending which version of Limewire you have updated to, and what Mac you have the Mac OS may no longer support the Java it needs to run.
First try updating your mac to the most current version. If that doesn't help you, take lime wire and throw it in your trash.
Look for an older version of Limewire I know 4.18.8 works very well on older Macs.

you can find it here:
http://www.oldapps.com/limewire.php?old_limewire=5?download

this from lime wire:
LimeWire 5 requires Java version 1.6 to run. Both require Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard running on an Intel 64-bit processor. To find out what processor you are using, go to the Apple menu and select "About This Mac". LimeWire 5 will run on Core 2 Duo and Xeon processors, but it will not run on Core Duo or PowerPC processors because Apple has not released an updated Java version for older systems. More information is available on the Apple website:

My macbook. 2.16 GHz intel core 2 duo, os x 10.6.2 is giving me sounds problems. ONLY when there are speakers plugged in or headphones plugged in does the sound skip. it doesn't skip if simply play it...

This sounds like a problem with your accessories than a problem with your Mac. Did you try using a different pair of speakers or headphones? The jack could also be loose.

Can older games be used on newer iMac?

I know for mac's it is a bit different.. on PC you can play an older game no problem but for some reason on mac you cannot?

I have a Macbook, and i tried to play Diablo 2... Yes very old game .. but since i was on mac OS 10.5 + ... the CD would not read.... if it was a pretty popular game there might be a newer download or patch you can install so that it will work but other then that i dont think you can.
