1) Pls go to the setup of your PC and make sure that your USB controller is enable if it is on Disable change it to enable.
2) If it is USB connector in front of your system, open your CPU and check if the cable that connect the USB connector to the main board is well connected both sides.

are u use win98 OS? if yes, u need to update the driver or use the usb driver included on the device you plug in(printer,camera, webcam or flashdisk)
Otherwise, you can upgrade you OS to WinME or Win XP.
