Someone deleted my Lexmark 1200 {Model X1270} Printer from the Desktop. Can you help me re-instal?? My computer is Windows XP

Please visit the Lexmark website to download and install the Lexmark X1270 Printer Driver on your computer. Select your operating system > click on "FILTER" > click on the driver under Recommended Downloads > download and execute the file. Simply follow the instructions on your computer screen to complete the installation.

This could be a printer driver issue. Uninstall the existing Lexmark X1270 printer driver on your computer. Please follow steps below:

1. Go to Start menu.
2. Go to Programs.
3. Go to Lexmark 1200 Series folder.
4. Go to Tools.
5. Click Uninstall.
6. After the uninstall process, reboot pc when prompted.

When your pc turns on, check if it's running on 32-bit or 64-bit operating system. Go to Start menu > right-click on Computer > click Properties. Take note of the System Type.

A web page will open, follow instructions, select model, select operative system etc., and click on download .
Chose to download the file in my documents when asked.
Afterdownloading,find the file, double click on the file , then if you getintroubles,follow the instructions below to reset and reinstall drivers:

• Unplug printer USB.
• Go to control panel >> installed printers in Windows and remove (delete ) any installed printer from printer list.
• Download driver from website, or use the disk and run the install file.
  
• Follow driver installation wizard.
• Plug back printer when prompted from installation wizard.

Note the file to download for XP is called cjb1200EN.exe

Vista uses a different driver. Here is Lexmark Support Page:

Enter your printer (X1270) and it will take you to the tech support page for your printer. Click "Download Driver". Next page select Vista as your operating system. Next page select "Download Now". It's a large file...40MB.

Save it on your desktop and when the download is done, double click the icon on your desktop to install.

First, Vista has it's own drivers and will assign it's own to your printer when you plug it in. This method will not work with many external devices. Completely disconnect the printer. Then install the lexmark driver. A window will pop up saying that the software being loaded is not approved by windows. Click install anyway. The software will instruct you when it is ok to connect the printer. You may have to go into the printer and faxes (control panel) and delete the current default printer.

Just one of the joys of having Vista

The only way to setup the printer without the proper drivers would be to use windows add new printer. However windows does not have lexmark x1270 listed. You can dlownload the software from lexmark & install the software / drivers without using the cd.

Yes works with Vista but you will need to use Vista driver not XP

windows xp home edition has problems running a lexmark, the xp pro dont its a windows problem do you have xp if so when it says needs install dont use the disk let the set up wizard take you to a site to down load the drivers i had to do the same with my X1150 all in one.
