Goto http://www.grc.com download spinrite and give it a go. It may recoverthe disk for you. Or repair it enough for you to get your data off.

Wont recognize ide drive on startup

When you boot,go into the bios. In the main section see if your drive is listed.
If not, turn off machine, open unit, check power and data cables
Harddrive are blue data cables. Also check to see if HD is slave or master. Jumper switches on HD. Clse unit and boot up into bios
in the main you should see you HD
in boot sequence.. see if you c:/ is in the list
bios will tell you how to put in list if not there
close and reboot

HARD DRIVE PROBLEM.

If the first drive will get recognized on another computer but not yours it would lead me to believe that the controller on your motherboard went out. But the part about the non os drive not getting recognized at all leads me to believe that drve went out. First i would definately take the drive somewhere to have the info transferred or if you can hear it spin up you might get lucky and it will work after you get your os to boot. it wouldn't hurt to have it backed up though. Before you do anything too drastic try to get your hands on another drive and see if you can get your PC to recognize any drives, if not then you will need a new motherboard.

Hi i am tryning to load an operating system onto my brand new hard drive. It keeps coming up with disk boot failure, insert system disk and press enter.. what do ido

Hi, By brand new harddrive, I assume that its fresh and empty.
You need to install the Operating System (OS) in that harddrive.
You can do that my inserting the OS installation CD/ DVD into the drive before you bootup.
If you still get the error, get into the setup mode and change the boot sequence to boot from CD-ROM first.
Hope it helps :)

My laptop says a disk red error occurred and will not boot up it goes in circles asking for restarts and says the same thing also iam getting this message as well PXE-E61 MEDIA TEST FAILURE CHECK...

"PXE-E61 MEDIA TEST FAILURE CHECK CABLE"
This means that the motherboard and harddrive are not communicating correctly, there is no data cable to connect the harddrive to the motherboard on a laptop the harddrive connecting plug is soldered directly to the the motherboard.
Either your harddrive is dying, or your motherboard has gone faulty. Laptop repairs are quite involved, if you are not familiar with taking laptops apart I would suggest you get profesional help with this problem.
If you want to have a go yourself I can point you in the direction of websites I use when doing laptop repairs.

Hard drive

I would at this point not attempt to boot to that harddrive. replace the harddrive and after you have the operating system installed you can slave that harddrive in and copy the data (maybe)
when you reconnect the harddrive go for the documents you want the most first
