It's locked up on me too! The door will not open!

  • dotterstrom Jan 26, 2009

Mine is doing the same. It runs about half way through the cycle then all panel lights go off except for the door lock light, which starts blinking. We have run the cycle a few times but continue to have the same problem. We have not been able to open the door.

Help ... my clothes are being held hostage in my washer (Whirlpool duet)!!! The door is locked ... but the door lock light isn't on. The washer won't run because it doesn't recognize that the door is locked. It just "clicks" then gives the dl error. I've tried resetting it, unplugging it, disconnecting the contacts, beating on the control panel ... does anyone know how to mechanically get at the lock to open the door?

  • Anonymous Feb 24, 2009

Mine too is locked but I can't get it to run a cycle. I've been have "df" codes forever but I guess the machine has finally had it. Would love to know how to access the door lock with the door locked shut. Anyone?

  • lrstro10 Apr 08, 2009

after all the cycles are complete the door remains locked. I bypass this by starting the next load and hitting cancel after I hear the door unlock.

  • sayia May 06, 2009

Door is locked and cannot be opened. I have tried the 3 sec button, but it still does not open. I can't see where you can removed the kick panel on the bottom, I don't see any screws that can be removed.

First try to hold down 'end of cycle' for 3 seconds, try door after a minute or so after hearing a click, power shd be on. If not:

To Manually unlock the door lock system:

1. Unplug the power cord from the outlet.
2. Remove the front lower kick panel.
3. Reach up along the inside of the front panel and locate the bottom of the door latch assembly.
4. Located on the bottom of the door latch assembly is a tear-drop shaped tab.
5. Gently pull the tab down about 1/4 inch or until a click is heard.
6. The door may now be opened.

Yep, Gently pull the tab down about 1/4 inch or until a click is heard, worked great. I think my door is still slightly out of alignment (hanging a little low) causing the locking pin to drag and hang up.

Error code 41

The error code E41 means the control board is detecting an open door switch. It might be due to a broken wire harness, broken door lock/switch assembly, or in worst cases a faulty control board.

Unplug the machine or disconnect power. Open the washer door then look for the retaining hoop securing the door seal around the lip of the door opening. Stretch the spring of the retaining hoop then remove it.

jahn27_446.jpg

Carefully peel off the part of the door seal from the lip of the door opening near the door lock/switch assembly. Remove enough of the door seal to gain access to the door lock and switch assembly.

jahn27_447.jpg

Remove the screws securing the door lock/switch assembly
to the front panel. Once the screws are removed, lift the door lock and switch assembly then pull it away from the front panel.

jahn27_448.jpg

Take the door lock/switch assembly out of the front panel then
disconnect the door switch harness then short circuit the terminals by putting a jumper wire between them.

jahn27_449.jpg

Put the door lock/switch assembly back into position in the front panel then secure it with the securing screws previously removed.
Properly put the eased part of the door seal back over the lip of the door opening then secure it with the retaining hoop. Reconnect power and run a test cycle. Replace the door lock and switch assembly (part #131763202) to address the problem if the washer works fine with the door switch bypassed. If not, replace the control board.

WE have Kenmore elite He3t Model Nol. 42926 203. We get an error code dL F. How do we correct this?

It is a door lock failure and it flashes after the door locking routine fails to lock the door after 6 attempts. Replace the door lock/latch assembly (part number 8182634) to solve the problem.

Disconnect power to the washer and open the door. Remove the door gasket retaining hoop by stretching apart the retaining spring at the bottom of the door opening. Gently peel the part of the door gasket near the door lock/latch assembly off the lip of the right side of the door opening. Remove enough of the door gasket to access the door lock/latch assembly behind the front panel.

Remove the three screws securing the door lock/latch assembly to the front panel and slightly lift it then pull it back off the front panel. Pull the door lock/latch assembly out of the washer and disconnect the wiring harnesses.

4620bef.jpg

Connect the wiring harness to the new door lock/latch assembly and install it back in place behind the front panel. the door lock/latch assembly and put the eased part of the door gasket back into position over the lip of the door opening.

Check that the door gasket is properly seated before putting back and securing the retaining hoop around the lip of the door opening and the door gasket.

Remove the screws securing the door lock and switch assembly to the front panel then pull the door lock and switch assembly out. Transfer the wires to the new door lock and switch assembly then install into place. Put the door gasket back and secure it with the spring-hoop assembly. The door is not locked after 6 trials then the Central Control Unit (CCU) will enters a failure mode and the digital display flashes FdL. This is a door lock failure and the only viable solution is the replacement of the door lock and switch assembly.

Disconnect power to the washer and open the door. Remove the door gasket retaining hoop by stretching apart the retaining spring at the bottom of the door opening.

Gently peel the part of the door gasket near the door lock and switch assembly off the lip of the door opening outer lip. Remove enough of the door gasket to access the door lock and switch assembly behind the front panel.

Remove the three screws securing the door lock and switch assembly to the front panel and slightly lift then pull it back off the front panel and out of the out of the washer cabinet.

Connect the wiring harness to the new door lock and switch assembly one at a time then install it back in place behind the front panel.

Secure the door lock and switch assembly then put the eased part of the door gasket back over the outer lip of the door opening. Check that the door gasket is properly seated before putting back and securing the retaining hoop around the lip of the door opening and the door gasket.

Machine flashes F then dl. What can we do?

There's a fault detected with the door lock and switch assembly. The door lock is not working or the door lock switch is not activated. This indicates that the door lock and switch assembly is malfunctioning and needs to be replaced to address the problem.

Disconnect power to the washer and open the door. Remove the door gasket retaining hoop by stretching apart the retaining spring at the bottom of the door opening. Using needle nose pliers, start where the spring and wire are connected and pull the wire out of the groove of the door gasket.

My door lock has locked with the door open , how do i get it to unlock ?

There is a manual unlocking tab located at the bottom of the door lock and switch assembly. Disconnect power to the washer before accessing it.

Remove the three screws attaching the toe panel to the cabinet then pull the panel down and off the cabinet. Prop up the bottom front edge of the washer or cushion and lean it against the wall for an easy access of the screws.

Reach up along the inside of the front panel and locate the bottom of the door lock and switch assembly on the right side.

Locate the tear-drop shaped tab then gently pull it down until a click is heard, and then open the door.

The door lock and switch assembly may need to be replaced if the problem persists. Disconnect power to the washer and open the door. Remove the door gasket retaining hoop by stretching apart the retaining spring at the bottom of the door opening.
