Question about Singer CE-200 Quantum Futura Computerized Sewing Machine

1 Answer

Using Autopunch I cannot find my manual. I have a jpeg, that I'm trying to digitize, and I really want it to be an applique.... mostly just the outline, and a few details within the design, but I cannot figure out how to do that.... Acutally, I can't even figure out how to put the outlining satin stitch on the design.... can anyone help me, or tell me where I can get a new manual to learn how to do this?? Thanks, CJ

Dear CJ,

You must always remember that Autopunch is a very basic digitizing program and can only digitize very basic jpeg images with clear color difinitions.

To activate autopunch, click on "create" from the top menu and select "autopunch" from the drop down menu. A new Autopunch wizard menu should open. Click on "next" on the browse to your jpeg file by clicking on "select". Keep on clicking on "next" until you get to the "customize stitch block" menu. Here you are able to remove unwanted blocks or change the stitching order by clicking on a block in the right hand menu and the clicking on the "Remove", "move up" or "move down" buttons.

By clicking on the radio buttons, just below the "move down" button, you can also select between Fill stitch or Satin stitch. When you are happy with your decisions, click on next and click on finish.

That is about all that you can do and autopunch will do the rest. I suggest you import a couple of dfferent clipart images and play around as discribed above to make you familiar with the program. You will also see different results by changing options.

If you are not happy with final results, I suggest you invest in a proper digitizing program, such as Creative Drawings. Visit the at www.drawstitch.com/Creative

Good Luck

How to applique with my Quilters Dream sewing machine

You should practice on scrap fabric until you can get the technique down well. There are different kinds of applique.

To cover raw fabric edges, you can do a smooth line of zig-zag over the fabric edge. Set the stitch width to a wide stitch and shorten the stitch length until the thread lays nicely next to each other with no gaps of fabric showing but also not so close that the stitches are on top of each other. There are methods for turning corners or curves that are nice for making a great looking edge.

Can I do freehand embroidery using this machine?

Most any sewing machine (zig-zag capable is probably better but a straight stitch can be used) should be able to do manual embroidery/applique. The lady in the video states she's using an embroidery foot, but in reality a darning or free motion presser foot may be better. Most embroidery presser feet actually press down on the fabric making it difficult to move the fabric manually. A darning or free motion presser foot is actually shorter and allows space for the fabric to move freely.

What can I do to widen my satin stitch when it is to narrow for the applique

Hello,
Unless you have and know how to use digitizing software, will you be able to add width to the satin stitches when doing applique. You need to cut the applique fabric larger than the cut-out-line so the applique fabric will held down properly. Some Commercial or higher end home embroidery machines can re-interpret the embroidery design and widen the satin stitches in a design without software. 6f3dbcfe-19c3-4021-b143-de10c9a89868.jpg

I have a babylock ellure plus and I am trying to applique, the manual says to go to the settings then to name of color until applique screen appears- this doesnt work??

You have to chose a shape first and then look through all of them. Some will say applique on them and some will not. Also, you can look in your quick reference manual and the designs that have a picture of scissors next to them are the applique designs. You could also download designs.

How do you use Singer Futura Editing Software?

Under submenu "Help" you can find different manuals and tutorials that describe all features. "Outline Edit" is intended for modifying the embroidery objects that were created by the native software (for example text blocks or AutoPunch Wizard result). With "Stitch Edit" you can modify specific stitches of any designs.

Main menu->Edit->Outline Edit and Stitch Edit
or two first buttons on the second line of the main toolbar or hotkeys "E" and "X".

Bmp files

Your CE 200 allows you to do very basic digitizing by using Autopunch. The color difinitions on your bmp. file should be clear, or your results will be poor.

To activate autopunch, click on "create" from the top menu and select "autopunch" from the drop down menu. A new Autopunch wizard menu should open. Click on "next" on the browse to your bmp. file by clicking on "select".
