Its a little dificult to work out what your trying to do but if ive got it right you have your back up saved on 1 pc and need to get it on another? if so can you not just burn it to disk on your first pc then load it into your second pc and im sure it wont work on cd it has to be a dvd and asuming you dont have a dvd writer in your first pc and you do in the second you will have to network the two pcs then burn it on your second pc for this you can do it wirelessly but you need a wireless router and network cards or the cheapest way just for the two pc is to buy a cat 5 cross over cable and plug into your lan ports then follow the instuctions in windows to set up a network but easier to buy a dvd writer

sounds to me the best way for you to get your pc up and running is to start a fresh with a new operating system i asume your using xp if you can get hold of an os disk ( operating system ) with the prdouct key very important load it onto your problem pc this will get your basic system up and running then you can configure your internet for this pc go to hp website download all your drivers from there its useually free .doing this you will lose everything on your pc

can you acsess anything on your problem pc ?

i think the plug you are refering to is the phono jack you get the same things on tv and you can get a lead that would plug them together but it would not work for passing data to the other pc the only way you can do that is the way i explained sorry its just not that easy and if you carnt access yor problem pc you aint going to network it

Factory reset from CD

Click the "Start" menu on your computer and choose "Accessories." Click "System Tools" and choose "Back up" from the list. This process will back up any files on your computer that you wish. When you reset your HP to its default settings, all documents, programs and other files on your computer will be lost. Back up anything you may need later. Follow the on-screen instructions to move through the back-up wizard. When given the option "Let me choose what to back up," select all programs or documents you want to save. If you're unsure whether you'll need it, back it up just in case. Insert a blank CD or DVD to save your files. Choose your CD drive from the "Back up location" option in the backup wizard. Keep multiple blank CDs or DVDs on hand. You'll need a lot of space, and typically several CD's, to back up all your information. Click "Finish" at the end of the back-up wizard and it will begin to burn information to the CD or DVD. When prompted, remove the CD and insert a new one. Continue until the computer is done backing up your information. Label each CD or DVD in the order you burn it. This way you can transfer your information back into the computer in the order you saved it. Check your CDs or DVDs to make sure the back up was complete by opening a file from the CD. Exit any open programs. You are now ready to start the restoration process. Click the "Start" menu, "All Programs," "System Recovery," and choose "PC Recovery." Choose "PC Recovery" again once the menu opens and click "Next." Your computer will restart automatically. When it turns back on, a welcome message for the PC Recovery software will display on screen. Click "OK." Select the "System Recovery" option to restore the computer to its default settings. Follow any on-screen instructions and wait for the computer to finish resetting your settings to the default. Insert your first back-up CD or DVD to start reinstalling your programs after boot-up. Open the files and save them to the computer. After you've saved everything from the first CD, continue on with the rest. Hope this helps.

I have forgotten my password to my dell c521 computer, not the system password

As far as I know, there are a lot of tools and utilities that can be downloaded and used to recover, retrieve, reset windows password. However, I've tried a couple of these utilities through the years. The free software can help you, but you have to learn some computer skills and waste a lot time on learning. If you want to save more time, maybe Google third party password recovery tool or Google Window Password Seeker can help you.

I need a recovery disk for a compaq presario sr1610nx

I wish the best outcome for your Dad!

Note: When performing operating system installations (or other technical operations involving the hard drive and partitioning and formatting software tools), make sure to back up your important data first.

Your best, easiest, and cheapest bet is to buy the recovery CD/DVD from the manufacturer. In your case, this is HP. It will likely run $20. Put your computer's information in at the HP Store:

http://h20141.www2.hp.com/Hpparts/Default.aspx?mscssid=B082A879119D4FDF9B19111AAC896A99

You can alternatively call them, if you have problems with locating the information on their website.

By getting the factory restore discs from the manufacturer, you will know that you are not installing a virus or other hidden software on your computer, because you have obtained the software from a trusted source.

Alternatively, you could load a different operating system, like Linux. Some distributions are very friendly, (almost as friendly to use as Windows) like Ubuntu. You can download, then burn the install CD/DVD from here (obviously you will need to do this from another computer):

Go to http://www.hiren.info/pages/bootcd and DL Hiren's BootCD 12.0. Burn the .iso to a cd-r or dvd-r. Make sure you go into the BIOS and change your DVD drive to be the 1st thing to boot. You should be able to boot to the cd and there is a Password recovery program built into Hirens. :)

Hp product assistant opens at start up and it says that it is looking for the hp product disk.

Insert the HP Product Disk into the CD/DVD drive.

Or, run the pre-installed utility to "burn" your own set of "System Recovery" CD/DVD disks.

there are many programs out there that can clear off passwords, and you can even use a flash drive to do it. so u just simply put the files on the flash drive.. pop it into the locked pc, restart the pc and then follow the directions on the program. I will not say the names of these programs as people can use them maliciously
