90 percent of the time the freon charge is low and lack of freon lessens the amount of compressed heat that can be created and also the amount of heat that can be extracted. hence less cooling and less heating. however the exact same thing can occur when a change over valve gets stuck partially between heat and cool . it then mixes the hot and cold together and you get poor cooling and poor heating. you check it with a gage. fed law requires that you have an epa certification to apply a gage. low pressures in heat and cool on both high and low pressure gages are a sign of low charge. if low pressure and high pressure are close to the same on both gages then a good chance valve is stuck half way between. you can also sometimes check by feel . at the change over valve two lines should be virtually to hot to touch and two should be cold to the touch. one is heating flow and other is cooling flow. if the valve is stuck then temps will be within a few degrees of the same on all. low charge and the hot lines won't be hot hardly .and the cold line s barely cool. look for white frost forming in the heat mode outside at the condensor tubing shortly after you turn on the heat. thats a sign of low charge. good luck.

Is your unit a "WINDOW" unit or a "CENTRAL, SPLIT SYSTEM" UNIT? If your unit is a "WINDOW" or "PORTABLE" unit, then it could simply be the COILS need to be cleaned. If it is a "CENTRAL, SPLIT SYSTEM UNIT" then it could be your FILTER needs to be REPLACED ... or it could be that your INDOOR and/or OUTDOOR COILS need to be CLEANED ... or it could be that your FREON CHARGE is either LOW or OVERCHARGED ... or it could be a problem with your RETURN AIR duct (sucking in exterior air somewhere) ... these are the MOST COMMON problems causing a unit not to cool properly. Good Luck!!!

You have to try resetting the system. First turn the breaker off for the condenser and wait about 20 seconds. After you turn it back on the system should reset.

Blows very cold air during dehumidify mode.

se this fact: God bless you
air conditioning system cools but does not dehumidify the room. The most common cause of inadequate dehumidification by an air conditioning system is the installation of a cooling unit which has too much capacity, or is "over-sized" for the space it is being used to cool. What happens is simple:

If an air conditioning compressor unit is oversized (too many BTUH of cooling capacity) what happens is it cools the room so quickly that the system does not move enough total volume of air across the cooling coil to remove much moisture before the room temperature has dropped to the A/C cut-off point.

In other words, an air conditioner needs to run longer, and move more total volume of air through itself to drop room humidity than it does to just cool the air. So "bigger" cooling capacity or higher BTU capacity for an air conditioning system is not necessarily better, and it can actually be a problem.

My mistral reverse cycle mss25ss model does not work at all in heat mode. what would be broken?

firstly is the air comming from the outdoor unit cold or warm? if it is cold then the 3way valve is working and it has changed to heating. If it stays warm then it is still in cooling mode. The indoor fan wont come on until the coil temp gets warm enough, ( so it doesnt blow cold air on you straight up). If it is changing into heat mode then the larger of the pipes connected to the outdoor unit should get warm/ hot. If this is not happening then the unit is either out of gas or the compressor is on hollidays and wont come back to work.

How does the heater part of the CPN12XH9-E work? Does the hoses need to be in window still?

Yes, hose needs to connect to outdoors, since it operates as a heat pump. You'll notice cold air blowing out the exhaust when in heating mode, and hot air blowing out the exhaust in cooling mode - unit exhausts opposite of temperature you want.

What's going on -- Vents are blowing hot air and

It sounds like the unit is stuck in the heat mode or the thermostat switch is still on heat. If the switch is in cool then you can go to the outside unit and locate the reversing valve. It may be stuck in the heat position. You can tap it with the handle of a screwdriver but only on the ends and very lightly because if you dent it the valve will be stuck for sure. If it shifts you will hear a loud hiss as the pressure equalizes. You could also try unplugging it from the circuit board. On some units it is energized in the cool mode and on others it is energized in the heat mode.

Uotside unit blowing cool air but hot on the inside

It sounds like you have a unit called a heat pump. When a heat pump unit is in cooling mode the outside unit blows hot air and the inside unit blows cold air. If the outside unit is blowing cold then the indoor unit is most likely blowing room temperature or warm air. It sounds like the thermostat could be controlling incorrectly or you could have a failed reversing valve which is the device that switches the unit from heating to cooling mode.

We have a fujitsu air con model ast9lsbcw which blows cold air from the outside unit and the inside unit is not cooling the room.

Sounds like you have it in heating mode or it is low on charge. In cooling mode, the outside fan should blow hot air not cold.
