Question about ViewSonic NextVision N4060w 40 in. LCD Television
I purchased a new Viewsonic LCD TV model N4060W 40inch in July 2007. I May 2008 the TV would not turn on, when you pressed the power button the green power light would blink once, then nothing. I contacted Viewsonic, who originally claim that the TV was already out of warranty and I had to prove by reciept when I purchased the TV before they would cover fixing it..
Well here it is less than 6 months later and less that a year and a half old and it's doing the same thing. I contacted Viewsonic again explaining that there's obvoiusly something defective with the TV since this is the 2nd time already with the exact same issue. They pretty much said too bad ,it's out of warranty and would not do anything to fix the TV.
Since this is only 6 months from the last time they repaired the TV, this could translate into a costly repair bill every 6 months, if the same thing keeps recurring. The part they replaced was around 8-10" square and looked like it was almost box shaped, not just a flat circuit board. Would you have an idea of the part and how to get it?
Also after reading some of the forums, it seems this TV has a number of defectives occurring as of late, any recommendations on a comsumer group that looks into this type of poor workmanship?
While this isnt an exact fix at work, you will at least be able to view your tv. We have one at work that would do nothing when you hit the power on button, just the usual geen led flashing. We pulled the cover off and found the bulging caps, more than likely from brown outs. But we also found that none were holding a charge. So we held the power button on for at least five min, after the led would stay on for about 30 sec and then turn off. We kept hitting the power button and the screen would try to come on. It finally did. After it did come one we can power on and power off aslong as we dont turn it off for more than 10 min. After 10 min of it being off we have hold down power button again and start the whole process again. So the main problem i believe is the caps arent holding a charge, to be able to kick the high voltage circuit on. We did not replace any caps but if we do end up changing parts will post what was changed and cost. Hope this helps

Had same problem with N4060W. Finally replaced PSU-Supply Board (B-0004623) from View Sonic...problem solved. Only takes 15 min of semi tec work & knowledge.
