Thanks for your help! It ended up being the machine itself. It would send some of the pages and then stop. I ended up buying a new machine and now all is well.

HP.com has a web page for your product with all of the fax error codes listed and how to interpret them:

Fax Error Codes

Once the page opens, you'll have to scroll down until you find your error codes in the list. The codes in that section of the page don't seem to line up well. All of the codes have to do with the quality of service on the phone line. If the people you're faxing to are receiving all of their faxes except from you, I'd suspect your phone line may have a problem. Here's what I got from the list:

The remote machine has failed to respond to a fax command from the local machine due to the connection being interrupted. These errors can occur if the phone lines in the area to be faxed are old or there is noise (static on the phone line). Other reasons can include power outages and other power related problems.
OR
The call waiting service can cause this error. The click, heard for an incoming call, is actually a momentary disconnect of the line.
OR
The remote user has pressed the Stop key while the reception was in progress.
OR
Under rare conditions incompatibility between the two machines may cause the remote machine to simply abandon the call.

Check with your phone company to see if their are any problems on your line. It looks like anything that even momentarily interrupts your phone connection will cause these errors. Good luck.

My HP 8600 Premium no longer sends or accepts FAXes. It says it's connecting, but never does. And returns error 344. I know the other fax machines are working fine. Please advise.

Here's a document that explains some on the fax error codes: http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?objectID=buu02549
The code 344 indicates noise or static on the line and usually the best way to get around that is to disable Error Correction Mode and/or lower the fax speed.
To disable the Error Correction Mode (ECM) touch the right arrow, then Setup, then Advanced Fax Setup, then down arrow and then Error Correction Mode and set it to Off.
To lower the fax speed, also go to Advanced Fax Setup and set it to Slow.

Press the Right Arrow (>) until Error Correction Mode ON or Error Correction Mode OFF appears. Press Enter . Send another fax to verify that the ECM is enabled or disabled.

Hello i keep faxing and it says gthat it is not

Check the phone number of the fax maching you are trying to send to.
Call the fax number with your phone (not fax machine) and confirm that a fax tone sequence is trying to sync.... If you get a "Hello" .. then you have a wrong fax number...

What is error 388

there is not error code for the OfficeJet 4315. however, there are similar code for other Hp printer.
error "388" is lised as unable to detect T30 frames. in other words, the machine fail to establish comparable connection. this can be the machine trying to send out fax in high speed, or the phone line problem.
consult the user manul how to set a lower transmission rate, or try to send the fax at a differnt time of the day . If that still give you problem, please call the phone company and have they look a the phone line.
