test with other phone.your memory works fine, then problem with your phone else problem is with memory card.

check your phone memory external memory capacity in internet.if you are using higher size then it will not recognize it(e.g max memory size expandable is 1gb and you use 2gb then it will not read it.

W490 wont read memory card

Hi, sykko_one, I have the exact same phone and was experiencing the same problems. After about a year of using my phone and storing music, pictures, videos, etc. on my phone it would suddenly stop working. Sometimes it would work, and sometimes I wouldn't be able to save or read any data on the memory card. What I did to fix it was completely remove the memory card from the phone and used a micro sd Tinpec card reader, picture here. You want the one that supports micro sd. You can find them on ebay or amazon. Then connect your micro sd card to your pc with the adapter and right-click the removable drive (might be drive e: or f:) and choose format. Leave the default options and format the disk. Make sure you've selected the right disk. To verify this you can open the drive and look at the contents, it should have a folder called "moble." Go ahead and format the drive. Then use chkdsk.exe from the command line to check the disk for errors. Syntax will look like "chkdsk f: /f" or "chkdsk e: /f" (depending on the drive letter assigned to your sd card reader.)

If the format and chkdsk do not work. try just deleting all the information from the card and copying some pictures and music files to it. If these copy successfully then I would assume the problem is with the firmware on your phone. Take the phone to a t-Mobile store and see if they can't re-load the firmware. And don't worry about deleting any data from your sd card, it will not affect the phone in any way, it will just delete whatever pictures music files you have stored on the card. So be sure to back those up first before you do anything. Hope this helps. -Rogueelite

My nextel does not read my memory card

This same thing happened to me recently. My reader seemed to stopped working after I accidentally dropped my phone at work. I tried everything from formatting it to trying different memory cards and nothing worked.

I manually added the music files on my 1gb SD card at first and figured I should do it again and it didn't work. I then synced my music through Windows Media Player but that still didn't do the trick.

The solution in the end was to take the SD card out of the phone, turn the phone off, put the SD card back in while the phone is off, turn the phone back on, and then update your library. If that doesn't work you may have a faulty reader that came with some of the phone when they first came out.

Hopefully that helped...

My Sony Bluetooth problem

Deleting files from your memory card is not enough. Usually the files received threw bluetooth will stored to phone memory and then prompted to store somewhere else by the user. So delete/move unwanted files from phone memory to memory card. Delete all the messages stored in your SIM card too.

hello Burr !! my name is M-zed. i think i hev a solution. you should try going to ur phone settings, then to "connectivity", there you will find two options : sync & usb. choose usb then you will find another two options : data fax connections & memory card. select memory card. now you can connect it again to the PC using your usb cable & you will observe that it does not ask for installation then you can find the removable disk icon on "my computer". this way you can send mp3 files to your memory card, then copy or move them to your phone.

Look at this from nextels store

unless your songs pics and video are in a very odd format, then possibly you have been sold a smaller capacity card with an incorrect/fake label. see if you can borrow one or get another from a different store to check it is not a problem with your unit. these memory cards can go wrong but it is very rare for them to function at all if they have damage. How much memory does the card appear to have if you stick it in a card reader on a pc or similar. try reformatting the card - there should be this option fairly obvious - if you have trouble finding this then please ask again I hope this helps :)
